Why should we control guns? I understand that guns are harmful and they kill. But as to my understanding, guns protect us from the government and the wolves of society (people who's purpose driven life is to hurt other people). The Constitution says, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The Founding Fathers kept this for a reason. Because if the government takes away our weapons, what can we do if they decide to kill anyone who disagrees with them. Even Adolf Hitler said, in April 11th, 1942, "The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so." Obviously I am pro-guns, but I do want to hear what everyone has to say. Mature comments are appreciated. Thanks.
I am very aware that in 1776, the government and the people had very level playing fields as far a weaponry goes. And, yes, if the government wanted to kill 10, 100, or even a 1000 people, they could do so with little trouble. But what I'm saying is the Public people as a whole V.S. The Military. Given that situation, if every person was armed, the public people would win. The military is only so powerful. And even so, the military aren't robots. They are free thinking people. They wouldn't do things they didn't think was morally right.

One problem with that...at the time of the founding fathers, they had muskets and you had muskets.

Now the government has weapons that the average person could barely believe or imagine. If the government wanted to kill everyone that disagreed with them, a person with a rifle or a handgun would not be able to stop them.

People should be able to own guns, but that argument just does not hold up today. If the government wants to come for you, you won't be able to stop them no matter how many guns you have.

Because, liberals, hippies, and people who have never have to fight for what they need are afraid of them they say "guns kill people" which is so dumb, by that then hammers, baseball bats, knives, and cars should be controlled as much as guns. Besides this country was created and defended with the gun. Some people will say that was back in the old days and guns belong there, but, no they don't guns still can be used today in home defense, hunting which is a way to control hunger and save money because quite a few lbs of deer for the price of one or two bullets is a good deal, there are many other reasons for guns just too many to list. I personally agree with you, I love guns.

I do however, agree with regulating guns to a degree, I mean we can't have "gangstas" running around with .50 cal. mgs.

I'm with you, guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Dictators and the sheeple that follow them don't want the populace armed, makes subjugating them much easier.
Libs will say the opposed of course, they hate it when law abiding citizens have "arms".
Libs also say that the second amendment does not apply to citizens but rather to the government. To go along with this logic, The other 9 amendments in the bill of rights do apply to the citizens, but only one would not. Doesn't make sense.
Libs also say that O is pro gun since he has not taken them away, they fail to mention however that the dem congress and O himself are trying to regulate out of existence the ammo for those guns.
