Why should we control guns? I understand that guns are harmful and they kill. But as to my understanding, guns protect us from the government and the wolves of society (people who's purpose driven life is to hurt other people). The Constitution says, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The Founding Fathers kept this for a reason. Because if the government takes away our weapons, what can we do if they decide to kill anyone who disagrees with them. Even Adolf Hitler said, in April 11th, 1942, "The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so." Obviously I am pro-guns, but I do want to hear what everyone has to say. Mature comments are appreciated. Thanks.
I am very aware that in 1776, the government and the people had very level playing fields as far a weaponry goes. And, yes, if the government wanted to kill 10, 100, or even a 1000 people, they could do so with little trouble. But what I'm saying is the Public people as a whole V.S. The Military. Given that situation, if every person was armed, the public people would win. The military is only so powerful. And even so, the military aren't robots. They are free thinking people. They wouldn't do things they didn't think was morally right.
