"Guin Saga" Talkback (Spoilers)

If I remeraber correctly, 100 novels were originally planned in the series, but the series went on and currently stanRAB at 124. It's not like the books are that long, they can easily be read in a weekend.

Coincidentally, I recently finished reading the first five books in the series published by Vertical. While pretty brisk reading, they managed to hold my attention and I would love to read the rest, but right now it doesn't look like there's much motivation to translate a 100+ novel series beyond the initial five.
 
Betcha anything it's a catchall pen name for a group of writers, the same way Carolyn Keene is always credited as the author of Nancy Drew regardless of who's doing the actual writing this decade.

For those who may be wondering about Guin Saga and maybe want to try it out but have not yet because you don't know if you will like it, allow me to give a short introduction of the first 3 episodes to start with. In the first episode a family is murdered by a group of Mongolihan Soldiers who are looking for Lemus and Linda (a pair of heirs to a kingdome), when just when you think they are about to succeed in the kidnapping, a mysterious man with a leopard head/mask named Guin (kind of looks like King from Tekken) comes to the rescue from a deep sluraber in the middle of the wooRAB (random). We get an AWESOME fight scene and the kiRAB escape with Guin and we learn that he has no real memory of who he is or why he is wearing a leopard mask, so they begin wandering. Another cool battle scene leaRAB into episode two where they are captured and Guin is made to fight a great ape in a battle in front of an awesome looking villain named, Vanon, who is a super creepy and super evil dude wearing a sick mask who we find out is nothing more than an evil spirit when Guin kills him in a cool battle scene in episode 3. Episode 3 brings us a guy named Istavan, who is a bad guy/good guy corabo who will eventually become a part of a party, episode 3 also brings us a touching death of a boy named Orro, who helped Guin out in episode two by tossing him his sword to defeat the grey ape. Some of it sounRAB generic, but it's put together nicely and it's really, REALLY worth checking out if you love action/story on an epic scale, but without a billion people engaged in warfare.......it's hard to explain.
 
I have not been able to catch episode 7 yet, but the past few episodes have been great! Guin, Istavan, Lemus and Linda along with the entire kingdom of those little monkey things are all about to take on the entire 15,000 man army that opposses them, I am sure we are in for a battle on an epic scale. Guin just got his armor and is looking all B-A and I am sure Istavan is going to show us all just how good with a sword he can be when they clash with Amneris, Ricardo, Kar Mol, Reagan and the knights. I'm very excited about the next couple of episodes!
 
Yeah, i haven't been able to catch episode 7 yet either. These past few episodes have been great, but i cant help but feel that things are moving a little too fast, i mean Guin just met these monkey guys in one episode and within the scope of that episode already got the monkey tribes to settle their differences and even became their leader, not to mention all the other stuff that happened in that episode. In other shows where stuff like that happens it usualy take a few episodes. Though maybe thats a good thing, cant ever say Guin Saga dragged things out i guess.
 
That did happen a little quick I suppose, they really could have done an episode where they explained the whole situation as to why the tribes didn't like eachother and how Guin got them to resolve, but I look at it as they have 2 choices, resolve and live or keep fighting with eachother and die. I am enjoying it though and I can't wait to see the huge battle, I'm going to try and catch it tonight....
 
Next episode should be very exciting. I wonder if a reason for the quickness is that this is running for 13 episodes...that's what it looks like at the moment. I hope it proves popular enough to go longer, because it's been fun to watch so far.

Looks like right now, they're actually in the events of the third light novel, given that it's titled "The Battle of Nospherus." It's possible that the series could get through most or all of what's been released in English to date (i.e. five light novels).
 
I don't know how many novels there are in total, but I hope they continue the series until the story told in the novels are finished. If they do continue on with original content after they are done with the novel rendition then I hope it's good material, otherwise I will be happy with them ending the series when they finish the story. I hope we get an english dubbed DVD someday of this series, it's up there with one of my favorite anime's of the last couple years!
 
All I have to go on is the Wikipedia entry, but apparently it is a pen name, though for a single person (her real name is Sumiyo Imaoka). Apparently she's a very prolific writer and has written more than 400 books (at about a rate of 10 a year).



I've heard of that as well. Haven't seen it for myself, but considering she helped pioneer the yaoi/shounen-ai genre before it became really popular and was one of the biggest contributors to the launch of the yaoi magazine June, I think it's safe to say there may be some boy-love elements in her Guin Saga.
 
It really does seem to take a while to get this show ready for us to watch it.

That's a shame, too, since I feel it's getting better by the episode.
 
The author of Guin Saga, has passed away at age 56 due to cancer.

i cant believe this happened!!, that's just horrible.. 56 is too young to die from something like cancer, i know it happens, but still.
 
Wow, thats a young death, my condolances to his family and friend. I was not too familiar with him, but he inspired my favorite new anime of the year and for that I have to take my hat off to him. Rest well, friend.
 
Just caught episode 7 finally

Astreas got owned, then old guy got owned after a few seconRAB of awesome, and Guin pretty much calls the mongul's girly men after making the princess scream like a little girl. It was awesome.

And predictably, in her anger the princess ignores the wise old guy's warnings (i love the classics) and falls right into the palm of Guin's hand. But come on, theres a giant living slime monster up ahead and she doesnt stop, thats too stupid, even for her, how did she think she was going to hurt slime??

oh yeah, Astreas was just a looser this entire episode, hes one loss away from an "you've failed me for the last time" moment, i laugh at his lameness...
 
Yeah...once Astreas went charging after Guin trying to bait him into a fight, it became obvious what was going to happen. It wasn't even a fight this time. One hit and he was done.

The whole episode was basically Guin having his way with these guys. If anything, this will strengthen the princess' resolve though. I mean, she got told to basically get off the battlefield and put on a dress and be your typical princess. Perfect for getting her to discard her better judgment and fall into the trap, but she'll be remerabering that taunt for a long time I'll bet.

Seems like next episode is some new story, or at least a side story to the current one. I wonder what this Wolf King business is about...
 
Damn, episode #7 was epic!! Guin owned both Magus and Astreas, no problem at all, and the Sems seem to be holding their own against the troops but I foresee a kink in the armor sometime soon and the party falling into a time of trouble. Things can't just go good for them when they are up against such an army. The whole plot with the Ido is kind of strange, but a nice distraction from the all out war, so needless to say I am getting really excited for episode 8 to be subbed!
