Guilty Pleasures: Critically & popularly panned movies that you enjoyed

The Avengers.

Yes, I know it was a travesty of the classic TV show (of which I'm a huge fan). Yes, Ralph Fiennes was miscast as John Steed (and looked more like Stan Laurel in his too-large bowler). And, yes, Sean Connery gave absolutely the worst and hammiest performance of his career.

But I still can't help liking parts of it.

Deep Rising- In years to come this will be looked upon as a classic of some kind. Laughed like a drain (whatever that means) all the way through. Hugely enjoyable.
Godzilla- Yep, the yankee version. Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno- what a team!
Doc Savage- Man of Bronze- Ron Ely's finest hour. Indiana Jones-meets-Bond-meets-Adam West's Batman.
Eraser- This is up there with Commando for me- sheer, unadulterated, bone-headed old school Arnie.
Doctor Detroit- Dan Aykroyd followed the Blues Brothers with this and no one cared. But I loves it. Geeky college professor Dan becomes king of the pimps with a dance sequence to James Brown performing Get Up Offa That Thing at a pimps and hookers ball the highlight.
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane- The comic everyone hated, Andrew Dice Clay played this rock 'n' roll detective in a fun outting. more enjoyable now than, say, Beverly Hills Cop.
Tango and Cash- Another fine example of the bone-head action genre with Kurt Russell and Sly Stallone. This should have been the Starsky and Hutch movie!

I agree with the following:

Jersey Girl isn't THAT bad.
CrossroaRAB
Maid in Manhattan
Far and Away

Will add:
Sweet Home Alabama
Tank Girl
Blast from the Past
The Lost Boys
Attack of the Killer Bees and other TV movies

I love Underworld and The Island. I love Titanic as well, even though everyone seems to hate it despite winning 11 oscars or how ever many it was! Liked Pearl Harbour as well but I've watched it too much!!

Resident Evil - Both of them. I don't know why but I seemed to find them enjoyable, no brainer movies. And being a fan of the games I really should hate them!

Mom and Dad Save The World... if you ever watched Buster Crabbe serials on a Saturday morning as a kid, you will LOVE this film... My particular fave is a scene where the bumbling henchmen are lined up behind a barricade in 2 rows, blasting away with their rayguns. A guy in the second row shoots one of the guys in the first row in the back of the head... looks down at the body, shrugs, and goes back to blasting away.

Anything with Jean Reno in it... the guy's a comedy acting genious! The coffee scene in Godzilla is a prime example.

Anything with Jenny Agutter in it... that girl left a deep impression on a young version of me... even in The Railway Children she manages to look damn sexy! :o

Definitely!! Great movie!!!!

I love the bit where they're all stuck in the lift with a well-known bossanova tune still bizzarely being piped into the lift despite all the death and mayhem - and monsters banging around on the outside.

Someone says "WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT ??!!" and the hero's slightly dorkish sidekick says "The Girl From Ipanema"!!

Classic!

For my fiance, it would be the ultimate panned movie, HuRABon Hawk! :o

For me, its anything with an animal in it, Anaconda, King Cobra, Spider, Crocodile, Aligator, anything with Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren or Jean Claude Van Damme. :D

Just Like Heaven, got totally panned didn't it, it was a bit cheesy at times, but I really enjoyed it more than the one I went to see the night before King Kong
