about the engineering menu, you probably rephased it wrong, that give the wrong impression, you may have posted some codes, but other menu may exist, at least the service centre in hong kong do have a way of checking this out.

roms extraction from phone is possible evern on samsung phones, no one ever though it's possibly, even on motorola, and this was done using homebrew software.
so it may be possible, as .i did mention I 'm referring as an overall phone industry.

I do agree with you that this a a F480 thread, this doesn't mean you cannot mention about other phones or other brands, dont most forums like to compare phones and features and relate them together.


I'm sorry if there are mistakes, this is all done on a mobile phone and is rather difficult to type.

He's right, you know. For all my complaining about the camera, I'm a big fan of the F480.
I think it's swings and roundabouts with the browser - Opera Mini has its good and bad points, as does the built-in browser - but both are better than my old Sony-Ericsson browser.
Hey, Samsung! Fix the camera and improve the music browsing and the F480 will be just about perfect!
 
Hi there, I'm about to take my first plunge into flashing so I'm a little bit nervous about it, and forgive me if my questions sound stupid! I'm doing this mainly because I have the problem where 50% of my calls are dropped within 15 seconds, it's getting SO frustrating! So I'm hoping a newer firmware will solve this.

Firstly, I assume that changing the firmware will not delete any vital stuff like the IMEI number will it??! i.e. as soon as it's flashed I can happily continue using it on my network (O2 UK) with no problems?

Secondly, has anyone had the call dropping problem (I've seen it mentioned by quite a few people across the web) before the HF7 update, and have you noticed the problem go away with the new firmware?

man thats bad, I thought the XXHF7 FW improved the camera? Im on ADHD3 at the moment and was hopefully awaiting an official release from Samsung, Ive heard there is a HG? release somewhere out there, will try to find the post.

Dunno where to get it though.
 
Hi guys newbie to the forum and interested in flashing the F480. However in the original post it looks as though there should be some screenshots of the Multiloader but I can't see them. Can someone help on that score. Thanks :-)
 
Have the newest chinese f/w for the F488 (F488ZHHG1), some noticable differences, the phone operates much faster, even if you listen to music, there are no lagg in operation, the camera focus and shoot much faster, the image when displayed on the phone's screen is still pixelized, but looks good when transferred to PC.

It's branded orange israel version
also there is branded F480JHHG5 cellcom israel.

but u can;t get those firmwares... they are compiled here in israel by samsung just for israel.
u can't find them on any WW samsung servers.
 
Works fine for me - stuck with the rc2 low option so have no idea what the difference would be.
Don't get the blurry camera thing a lot of folks with earlier firmware seem to go on about.

Just happy to have working phone again

Installed the 240x320 Nokia version which works great, however it still doesnt read AAC tags which is a bit pointless! It can't be that hard to implement it can it? The F480 player even reads the artwork out of the AAC file but doesnt show any other info!
 
Hi all, noobie here, I have flashed phone to 480XXHF7 checked camera firmware was 0x1f4d8723, for some reason I decided to choose option 2 write firmware and pressed confirm, this took me back to the widgets screen and the camera has stopped working "camera failed!" appears on sceen after 10seconds or so and goes back to widget screen. I checked the camera firmware and it now says 0x1b2511b66.
I have tried writing it several times with a "Success responce" from the phone but no joy. I have also reflashed with HF7 and HE2 firmwares but stiil the camera fails. Any one have any idea's please.

Hi, I am living in HK and i got the F488 version F488ZHHF1.

When i take a photo, it gets blur after few seconds, and i would like to fix it... I think that the f480xxhf7 was released around the same time... so i guess they have similar functions or problems..
I would like to update my firmware to a new one, but this time i want the Spanish language on it. I want to know if a XX version will work in my F488 ...

If so... I want a latest version besides the f480xxhf.

As you also live in HK... I would like to ask you.. if I go to the Samsung Office.. they will update my firmware ? can they get the european version which includes Spanish ?

Im currently on da F480DDHG1...which isthe firmware for india....Can i flash it with the European version..???
 
Followed instructions to flash my Tocco but "error" appeared in the black box on the right in Multiloader after reaching Rsrc1 and on the phone "What" appeared on the screen. Unneccessarily cheeky I think. Loads the Amss part without any problems.

Now the phone now longer works as it gets stuck half way through boot up.

Have tried various firmwares all with the same result.

The phone was unlocked but from the Far East. All in original packaging and did not look like it had been messed with.

I accept full responsibility but would be grateful for any thought on a solution.
