Greatest Rock Singers

Cool thread going on here!

I would take out John Fogerty here...I love CCR but I am not sure he is a great vocalist more an artistic use of a a unique voice....

I would replace Fogerty with David Bowie...

Maybe I would have to include John Lennon too...not only did he have a great singing voice, but he was one of the greatest rock and roll screamers ( listen to the last part of "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" ) and solo songs like "Cold Turkey".

Mostly in order

1. Warrel Dane (Nevermore, Sanctuary)
2. Stu Block, Tim Roth (Into Eternity)
3. John K. (Biomechanical)
4. Layne Staley (Alice In Chains)
5. Roy Khan (Kamelot)
6. Floor Jansen (After Forever)
7. Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius, Warmen)
8. Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen)
9. Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus)
10. Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind)
11. Matt Barlow (Iced Earth)
12. Russell Allen (Symphony X)
13. Mikael

In no order...

Jeff Buckley
James Hetfield
Mike Patton
Kurt Cobain
PJ Harvey
Cedric Bixler-Zavala
Maynard James Keenan

I WILL KILL HIM. Raaaaaaaaaaaaage.

But why do I keep seeing names like Trent Reznor or Kurt Cobain?
I dunno, my top 10 would have to be (in no order):
1 Freddie Mercury
2 Mikael Akerfeldt
3 Les Claypool woo
4 Ozzy Osbourne
5 Corey Taylor
6 Serj Tankian
7 Alexi Laiho =P
8 Bruce ****inson
9 George Kalias
10 Tarja Turunen

We should throw in some that would definately qualify.

Freddie Mercury anyone?

And Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge has a really distinctive voice....

I love the Chili's and Anthony but I am going to have to say John Frusciante is the truley great singer in that band. Listen to not only his backing vocals but some of his solo albums. His voice gives me chills

Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl are awesome.
What about Otep?! She's pretty good. Her voice is dynamic. It shows in her reproduction of nirvanas' Breed.

Corey Tailor seems to have lost it a bit in Slipknot. But has improved with his other band Stone Sour! Gavin Rossdale from Bush was pretty good, so my friend tells me. I have yet to judge myself;)

Hey Cmon, Kurt was fantastic! He was unique. No one will ever sound like him and only his voice will do his songs justice. No he wasn't your normal singer, but he was good in his way.He is the God of Grunge! Multi-talented too. I agree with Lennon! Oasis are pretty chilled so for that I'd nominate them. Dynamic too when it comes to the importance to being idle! But maybe they in a different league here...
