greatest rock frontman in last 25 yrs

I have to agree with lighterflight, Axl was a great live frontman, original, charasmatic and electric, at least when he actualy showed up(or wasn't kicking your ass for having a video camera ;)), though of course i am refering to a certain period, the late 80s and the UYI years, his voice is pretty damn shot now.

Thanks for being objective on this(sarcasm), but i disagree with you here, Bono was a amazing frontman, live especialy, i dont think hes as much of a prick as some say he is, i remeraber when he was sick as a dog, but refused to cancel U2s upcoming live shows and disapoint the fans, he would continue to perform even with a nasty cold, and he actualy did a decent job even though his voice was pretty ****ed up.

ya, i know what you mean by Live Performance, Character, Presence, Enthusiasm, etc,
Waters was super theatrical and a young strummer was just as enthusiastic on stage as say Armstrong is today, id be curious to see how much energy he has left when hes in his 50s.

How many people jump on the Little Richard bandwagon as you call it?, how many people younger than 50 really give little richard enough credit?, what are you talking about?, What about the zeppelin bandwagon?, and the countless zep fanboys who try to convince everyone that they should be nuraber 1 at everything?, even if they dont deserve it?

And what does race have to with rock n roll?, are you really that stupid?, rock n roll had everything to do with race in the 1950s, middle class white familys rejected it simply because the performers were african american, and it wasn't until Elvis that white audiances began to accept rock n roll and black rock n roll performers, rock n roll itself was primarly based on the blues, and well, who do you think started that?, the japanese?

I`d actually rather listen to Led Zeppelin than Little Richard. However this thread is about the best frontmen , not the best band. I`m not narrow minded enough to think that just because a band is my favourite that they are the best at everything.
I happen to think Primal Scream are a rather good band , however only an idiot would think that Bobby Gillespie is a better frontman than someone like James Brown.

Don't fool yourself. John Paul Jones made led zeppelins fly. You lack of inclusion is a digusting oversight and you should be stripped of your zep CD because of it.

3. attittude: must think and act like the coolest/baddest MF on the planet.

my 2 cents -
Axl was OK but obviously lost it, at some point his ego took control and now he's just an idiot - also GnR ain't done squat since Slash and the crew bailed.
David Lee Roth was the penultimate frontman for a while and then his ego took over, also his lyrical content was very one dimensional
Rik Emmett of Triumph - under rated and mostly unknown - great singer and guitarist with good tunes - not enough attitude
****ie Barrett from Mrab - this guy is a frontrunner. He has all of the qualities and still has cred - got popular and then told the record company to blow.
Tim and Lars from Rancid (neither one is really the frontman) - cred and attitude and a variety of song subjects - but thier tunes pretty much all sound the same.
Scott Weiland from STP and VR - has the chops and the attitude - now if he can just stay off the smack......
OZZY - has all the gooRAB but looks like a fat penguin waddling around the stage.
James Hetfield from Metallica - has the talent and attitude - nah F*&K them.
There's a lot more , maybe later......

Normally I'd crap all over you for slamming jack white, but in this particular instance ill say, if jack didn't play such amazing guitar, he'd not be interesting at all. jack's guitar has better stage presence than he does. They sort of face each other, so there isn't any performing other than musically.

BJA I know too little about. And I agree that Arron Lewis is complete crap, but brandon boyd has flair, whether its more than stummer, im not sure, but he's rightfully on the list.

Thanks =), and i did want to put Corgan in there but i decided that he probably isn't top 50 worthy, but if i expand the list to 100 i will certainly have him in there and high, somewhere in the 50s...I could find a place for Lewis too.

i wasnt slamming jack white, nor was i disputing that he should be on the list, i just dont think he should be rated higher than Reed, Waters and especially Strummer. I agree with him being higher on the list than Dave Mathews and Joe Elliot though.

don't kid yourself with your fits of rage with what you think i may or may not know about led zeppelin.if you know more:good for you,i have a whole batch of cookies right here for you. yes this was a list pulled from another site, boo-boo may have revised it but most of the list remains the same. this whole da*n list is the most politically correct thing i've ever seen. it's a disgrace to rock n' roll. little richard @ # 10 is absolute garbage. there's 90 other frontmen that should be higher. you can say whatever you want his defense, it's garbage
