greatest rock frontman in last 25 yrs

i was also surprised Cash wasnt on the list, and after your reason i have to ask then how Bob Marley managed to make the list? (ill give you George Clinton, although technically he shouldng be on a rock list either)

Oh ****, i knew i forgot somebody, and i was really trying to squeeze him in there too, I guess i could knock Jon Anderson off. :(

^ Check the revised list, im gonna try and expand it to a top 100. eventualy. =)

2. Idealogical: Must have considerable song writing ability, and a strong variance on his material.

If everyone is to post a rule then when will we start to discuss the actual topic?

No i made the list, what i posted was just an update, as for strummer, he is a great frontman, but you see, most of my list is based on Live Performance, Character, Presence, Enthusiasm, etc...The Clash are certainly a greater band than say green day, the white stripes or incubus, but i think Armstrong, White and Boyd are pretty damn good live...They really get involved in their shows, they really get the crowd going and can be very unpedictable and a joy to watch, not that strummer lacks these qualitys i just dont think he has them as much, only my opinion though, if i update the list again i could move him above lewis, but how great the band itself is dosent really effect the list too much(hence Maccartney and Lennon not in the top 10)...As for Waters, Pink Floyd is my favorite band, so im by no means being biased, he had some great moments live, but i dont think he deserves to be higher than most of those i ranked above them, despite what i think of the actual banRAB they are in, i could move up Patton though, he is a really damn good frontman.

How so?, you don't think theres a way to define greatness other than by preference?, if so you would be poorly misinformed, my list isn't based on my preference or favorites, if it was Elvis wouldn't even be top 20, Brandon boyd would certainly not be below some of the people above him and yes dammit i would have robert plant above little richard, i based by list on a certain criteria, which was based explained by Urban and Rain dog on the first page, if you judge great frontman by Influence, Impact, Importance, Innovation, Their on stage talent, Charasma, Electricity, Character, Presence, etc, then Little Richard easly deserves to be above Robert Plant, that isn't my opinion, thats just the way it is.

its the one i was refering to, what problem would i have with the first one? And the orignal attack from me was clearly rooted in that post

i think the true led zeppelin fans realize what they mean to rock n' roll. you have arguably the three greatest at what they do/did. robert at vocals:;jimmy at guitar and bohnam pounding the h*ll out of his drum set. that band changed rock music forever and each became legenRAB at their position for what they accomplished as a band.

I'm sorry. I was under the impression that this thread was a forum to discuss great front men. There's no need to become indignant simply because one's opinion varies from yours.

Being a talented pianist and a gifted songwriter doesn't make one a great front man.

I have seen Axl Rose live. Twice. He was arrogant, sounded horrible, (perhaps that had something to do with the cigarette in one hand and drink in the other) and couldn't care less about his audience.

What exactly does Axl Rose stand for? Arrogance and egotism, at the cost of a musical career. He's where he belongs. In obscurity.

I think the statement "When Axl did show up you got the greatest show of all time" speaks for itself. Great frontmen show up every night.

Im a crybaby?, you are the one whining and throwing lame insults around just because your hero isn't getting a hell of a lot more credit than he deserves, i know for a fact that Led Zeppelin is overrated, and they are one of my top 5 favorite banRAB, if you want me to get specifc on your ass then this is how i break it down by the criteria.

Impact - Little Richard, Plant may be in one of the biggest banRAB in the world, it dosent mean he takes impact, he dosent even deserve the most credit for Zeps sucess, that obviously goes to Page, like Urban said, richard broke racial bariers, helped innovate a little thing called rock n roll and set a whole new level for on stage performance.

Influence - Little Richard, Plant himself is influenced by him, where else do you think he got those screetching, oversexed falseto vocals from?

Innovation - Little Richard, What?, helping create rock n roll isn't innovation enough?

Importance - Little Richard, if he had never existed, it would have made a lot more of a difference than Plant never existing.

Overall Onstage Talent - Little Richard, better as both a singer and a overall performer, could tear that piano up in the meantime which is a bonus, Plant reached his peak onstage in the really early 70s, his vocals however has been shot to death since 76.

Charasma - Little Richard
Electricity - Little Richard
Character - Little Richard
Presence - Tie(im being generous today)

I crown little richard the victor, now...
