Yup, that is SOP.

The government fucking the end user of the product, in this case, gas, in order to make a profit, all the while, the company who had the ACCIDENT, passes through the added expense of the fine.

I'm blaming the governament on dealing with the clean-up operation. where did i blame them for the leak? I'm assuming English isn't your first language.

The government has no expertise in deep sea operations that don't involve the military.

I guess they could send a sub there

How would anyone expect the response to be immediate when they cant figure out what to do with the Twin Towers location after 9 years

so in the next week, there will be a conspiracy that the govt started the leak covertly just to get money from BP.

tin foil hat crew where u at?

until BP goes under because of it.. but then theyre too big to fail and the government owns a part of BP then..

Lets not forget that BP is one of the most environmentally forward thinking and conscience companies out there and definitely the best in the oil field.

This is a valid point, but it's also crazy to consider that there's any upside (economic or otherwise) for BP to drag their feet on stopping the oil flow.

Yes.

Especially when it's our terrestrial waters. And all the money should go towards the cleanup and alternative energies.

EDIT: It may not be our terrestrial waters per say. But the spill directly effects our coastline. Mexico, PR, and the Dominican should press charges as well.

i'd gladly pay $10 a gallon for gasoline if we could put 6.2 TRILLION DOLLARS towards our national debt
