Government Could Fine BP $4,300 Per Oil Barrel Spilled Into Gulf

The Saudi government also owns the world's LARGEST oil company, they own tankers, they own the equipment. You want to nationalize our oil industry? I'm all for it.

Priapus is mad.

Psychology degree is treating him well.

They can't just go through and try to re-pump mud/brine back into the well because it can re-kick, causing a larger flow to occur. There were other methods to contain the leak that could pull out the oil and then shut off the well head. You obviously in your great wisdom KNOW better though.

Just keep causing a stir, protest oil, trade in all of your polymer generated items and get on the new non-drill bandwagon. We all have a long ride to go.

Accidents happen when you are trying to feed the need of the Americans/World.

I can't say much as well as most people in the industry. Like I mentioned before in the other thread, people are meeting with a board of people from the President this friday at 8am in Houston. I am sure I can say more after.

i'm assuming (and it is only that) that surface oil spills are considerably different than undersea well spills due to how the oil is distributed. i'm sure tankers could do something,b ut who knows if it's better than an army of modern shrimp boats. the persian gulf spill didnt exactly have the same sort of private fleet available at the time.

wtf do you expect? the sole purpose of government is to siphon money out of people

I agree. I've heard the reason BP has been delaying the top kill procedure was because they were hoping to try everything else first in the hopes that they could revive the well later. If this is true, they need to be severely penalized for it.

I don't think the federal government has the equipment or expertise to stop the leak

It's already well known that BP is the only entity that has both the equipment and knowledge that can be used to stop this.

The government can't do much, otherwise they would be doing it considering the hammering officials are taking over this.

how about instead they use that money to clean up the oil spill in the ocean (if it can be done) instead of just giving it to the government

And never seems to not break shit that specifically says FRAGILE in giant red letters.

that might accomplish something truly useful, they are way more concerned with debit card transaction fees.

The government does not have much expertise to do anything but bullshit around and waste money. No mater what stupid party is in office.

I also heard you have great contacts in industry to hear what BP was trying to do. You should share more cool stories with us all on the internet.

Some kind of punitive fine that BP is going to feel is appropriate. I'm more interested in what the administration is going to do to about the cozy relationsion between MMS and the oil companies. That's much more relevant to deconstructing the crime and helping to make sure that shit like this is less likely to happen in the future.

BP had a permit to drill. there was an accident. BP failed a test sure BUT it was not policy to shut down the operation upon failure. there are a lot of moving parts with this problem and fining an oil company out of existence is a stupid way to go fixing this problem.

Dude, he knows people on the inside.

He also has a good technical grasp on what is going on. Psych degree son.

Which is what everyone in the industry is currently doing because it is going to effect all of us.

Outside of that, it is the blame game and it is going to cause nothing but a huge shit show.
