On or about 05/02/2010 my nuraber is working on cricket again , finally. It hasn't worked since on or about the 23rd, sigh......
Neither boost nor cricket admitted it was their glitch, nor actually what the hold-up was.... sigh...
but I am happy the nuraber is working again... (I've had the same nuraber for about 10 years, everyone who calls me it's about the only way to contact me other than finding me at home)....
Several things took place to 'complicate' matters -
1)Initially, after taking a half hour to get thru to a person(NO HONEST BUSINESS TREATS PEOPLE THAT WAY boost said the nuraber would be ported to my boost phone in 24 hours.
2)While still on the phone with boost, they charged me 65.11 for the activation and first months service ... that price is good, IF IT GETS DONE !
3)While still on the phone with boost, boost gave me a temporary nuraber to use until my regular nuraber was supposed to get ported over to work.
4)While still on the phone, boost proceeded to TRY TO ACTIVATE the boost phone, and FAILED.....
5)While boost tried to activate the boost phone, I googled boost or boostmobile.... (should have done this FIRST !!! - it would have saved A LOT OF TROUBLE)...
6)While still on the phone with boost,
I found out that boost, spring and nextel HAVE LOST A LOT OF CUSTOMERS
and A LOT of people cannot figure out why sprint is still in business... (google spring problems for yourself and you can EASILY SEE WHY)...
7)While still on the phone with boost (YES, THIS IS STILL THE INITIAL ATTEMPT)
I decided to just stay with cricket - I had been fairly happy with cricket (and now even happier with cricket's LOWER COSTS and expanded services)
and told boost to forget it, I'll just stay with cricket....
...
btw, a boost representative then let me know that the 65.11 would drop off and not be charged to my account. it did drop off, but the screw-ups and lack of customer service from boost and from cricket cost me over 300, possibly 700, while I didn't have use of my nuraber, .... sigh ..... sigh ..... sigh .....
8) That was that, for that experience, and I thought it was all over....
(little did I guess what lay ahead)
9) Within a few hours,
... I discovered I could make outgoing calls, send and receive txts, on my nuraber on cricket - the same nuraber I'd had for about 10 years and had failed to port to boost...
BUT
I could not get incoming calls - anyone who called my nuraber always got a message "the customer you are trying to reach is unavailable"...
10) I went to a local cricket store, thankfully only 5 miles away,
and the 'intake' girl tried to help me via reprogramming my cricket phone and calling her 'hotline' or whoever she talks to.
11) The cricket store girl couldn't get the phone to work for incoming calls,
so I called cricket customer service(while waiting at the store to see if a 'tech' or someone else there could help) and got through in less than a minute - YEAH FOR CRICKET !! YES YES, at least when trying to call cricket customer service it only took about a minute to get through, ever. with boost it ALWAYS took almost 10 minutes to get through to the first person, and then it took 20 more minutes with boost to get through to someone who understood english ! I spent about 5 hours on the phone with boost, about 30 minutes of that with a person, the rest of the time on hold, from 04/22 to 05/02 trying to get my nuraber working....
.
footnote- after my online form complaint was sent to the fcc and boost was notified, I was able to get through to a technician within a lot shorter time....
..
12)while at the cricket store on the phone with cricket customer service, cricket customer service gave me a temporary nuraber for my phone so people could at least call me.... small consolation but it helped a little... while they worked it out.
13) cricket said it could take up to 72 hours (haha).... (usually 4 hours).. to find out what had happened and get my cricket nuraber working again.
14) cricket agreed that if I was able to get thru to boost that I should call cricket back again with any information that could help.
15) I got through to boost (after a 10 to 20 minute wait on hold and going thru their menu) and the person at boost said that my cricket nuraber had somehow got ported over to boost (but not activated on the boost phone) and then had been LOCKED when the boost activation order was cancelled.
(about 10 days later, a boost technician ADMITTED that boost/nextel/sprint had LOCKED THE NUrabER UNTIL 10/02/10 or thereabouts !!!!!!!!!!
- that was AFTER TEN DAYS WITH OUT BEING ABLE TO USE MY PHONE NUrabER,
AFTER ABOUT 7 HOURS IN PHONE CALLS TO BOOST AND CRICKET,
AFTER AT LEAST $300 WAS LOST FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO BE CONTACTED BY FAMILY FRIENRAB AND BUSINESS....
AFTER ALL THE PROBLEMS, (and after the fcc was contacted) - boost tech finally admits the nuraber had been locked by boost/spring/nextel ... !!!
... and remeraber it had never gotten usable on the boost phone, and it had been cancelled in the same call made to try to activate the boost phone....
...
that's enough for now, I'm wore out ....
..
by the way - a boost person said that to get through to a boost person on their toll free nuraber/menu
to
press '8' once, then '8' again, - just press the nuraber EIGHT (8) twice in a row when their menu first comes up on the call....
I didn't get a chance to try that because that was after everything that I was told, but
if anyone else
wants to get thru to boost (like to transfer to cricket, eh?) live person, try 8 - 8 and see if it works....
