Gmail/Palm Request to Moderators?

I know a lot of people are now using Gmail due to the 1 Gigabyte storage. There is a program called Gmail-lite which allows a Palm (or Pocket PC etc.) to read gmail by accessing the Gmail account in a small footprint screen. There are a few sites which have the service available, but the concern is that these sites may be recording username and passwords to "steal/read etc" the information passing through. I would feel more secure in using this service through PDA Street Forums than going through an unknown server. I understand that it is only necessary to install this application on a web server to provide the service.

IF it is a "simple" application that could be installed on the PDA Streets server, with minimal impact on bandwidth, it would provide a great service to all forum members.

Thanks for your consideration of this suggestion.

I have found SO MANY COOL THINGS at SourceForge, and this sounds like one of them.

TextSync used in conjunction with TealDoc absolutely rocks.
Progect was a great free checklist Program.
Filez/No Sleep Software came out of there (Ver 6.2 no ready!)
Various other GREAT PC stuff is there, too.

This could do the same for email ability! Way cool, Brother Fnagle. Let's hope it flies.

Interesting. I too have now got GMail, and will probably start using that although at the moment I'm still Hotmail mainly....

Anyway, it's not something the Moderators can implement. I would pass it on to the Admin, but right now I'm afraid the more pressing matter of 'those ads' is being discussed.

Maybe you could bring up this thread in a couple of weeks and I'll pass it on then?

The interesting thing is, with Gmail-lite NO-ADS. It retrieves all the pertinent information for your mail, but shows no ads! It is really "basic" when it comes to mail.

Another interesting point, the ads that do show up on Gmail whenever I have the word Palm, the same ads show up on the Forum - Rolled Tungsten etc.

Interesting their should be a concern for ads in this forum. With the number of ads that show up on the forum AND NOW within messages. My first post has at least 5 links for ads on select words within the message. There are more ads in one thread here on the forum than are in a full conversation on Gmail!

Look at the forum before talking about other's use of ads.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, I was referring to the ads in the forum, not that ads on Google. I have no problem with the Google ads, they are very unintrusive.
I was referring to the addition of a new "sticky ad" at the top of each forum.
