Given up on Nokia S60

So...here I am waiting for the N75 to be released and here comes the ugly N76...why can't Nokia get on the ball and release some phones (that are reasonably priced) in the states? :/ Ugh I give up waiting for them to do something....I guess I'll put up with Motorola's horrible UI for a while.

Also gotta consider if there are enough people here who'd actually buy the phones. Keep in mind the American free phone mentality, and that most people probably could care less about what 3G does.

I completely agree with u may be nokia dont realise they might not gona do enough business in usa or something and coz of that we have to shell out some big bucks and get the phones from outside which are so overpriced and stuff

I will really like nokia to come up with some s60 phones in us market so that we can enjoy too

That's somewhat silly. Nokia releases more phones than any other manufacturer. In the US, it's true that carriers don't have their latest ones, but unlike most manufacturers, all Nokia phones can be bought unbranded and imported. If you want not only the latest and greatest stuff but also US based HSDPA, then yes the choices shrink, but they would shrink for any manufacturer too. Right now the N75 is the first one that should be coming for those specific needs, with more to follow. But the simple fact is that Europe, Asia and even Africa are more interesting markets for a company right now. When even tech reviewers look at the Sprint ad showing an EV-DO laptop card versus an EDGE card and agreeing that clearly CDMA is the way to go, there's just no use fighting stupidity.

ya. dam America an their free phone mentality. y cant they cough up the cash and just pay for stuff now days like the rest of the sensible ppl in here...

I wouldn't mind spending upwards of $300 for something like the N75...I don't need HSPDA but I wouldn't mind some variety! I love my 6682, but I need something a little smaller now. Most Nokia's are very high $500+ and the ones that are not usually don't have 850.

I've considered the E50, but I was hoping to at least get A2DP....probably not going to happen with S60 anytime soon.

Consider getting the MSI blue player bluetooth drivers and seeing if they can be hacked on to the Nokia. Its rumoured this is possible. I'm going to try it once I get my hands on an A2DP headset of the form factor I want.

i dont think i will ever give up on s60..i like the trend on not releasing phones for the us/canada~ it will only cheapen the brand if too many ppl own one~

i agree it just makes you feel better when you can walk around and have a phone that you rarely see anyone else have. i got a bad habbit myself of buyin a new phone once i see someone else who has the phone that i have

I really doubt that you will find the newer nseries phones out here in amreica for under $450 or so dam expensive stuff

I'm close to giving up, but I just can't find a suitable replacement. my problem is that I need 3G. UMTS or HSDPA I don't care, but I've gotta have it. I blow through 450mb/month of data.

I had the Blackjack for a week and it was the closest to satisfied I've been in a long time. the 3G is blazing fast, I was able to gain a new appreciation for Orb that I've never really had (though I still keep it running on my pc).

I'm more pissed at Nokia right now, too, simply because they won't release a 3G phone in the US, unbranded or not. They've tried 3 times now and even if the carrier won't pick it up, toss it to us dogs down here.

I'm really tempted to sell my N73 and get the Blackjack for my primary phone needs just to have the 3G (probably won't but I'm at least tempted.)

I go through more than that with just IMAP/SMTP email usage. Easily. If I had 3G service, I'd be using it. As it is, EDGE is too slow so I'm stuck using Wi-Fi. If I had 3G everywhere, I'd easily chew through gigabytes every month.

That's no tethering. That's:

1. Email on occasion (usually if I'm surfing at work and find something i'll email it to myself with gmail
2. Random internet browsing
3. Nokia Podcasting Beta
4. Updates for misc. programs
5. Google Maps Mobile
6. Symella (don't really use SymTorrent ever, though I do have it installed just in case.
7. Used to do alot of GPS with Wayfinder and Nav4All, both of which download maps as you go, which used up alot of data.
8. Every now and again I'll do some internet radio
9. ShoZu (though I've since uninstalled that as I think it's got a memory leak)
