Ghostbusters 3?

Old people trying to be cool.

I think because we actually find nostalgia in its relevance is a little too ironic.... when i was your age..... :(

I recently saw Ghostbusters 2 on E4 (I think it was on TV like twice within a weke or two). I have mixed feeling about a GB3.

If they get the old cast back together they will be too old.

It might get the ol' Hollywood white wash of special effects (dont get me wrong it would be nice to see a Ghostbusters film with better visuals but i think they might go OTT).

I don't want to see a remake with new actors - it just wouldnt be right.

So far the best idea is to have the original cast perhaps, training some new people. But again, I don't think they would get this right...

...Just imagine it now they teach these new kiRAB everythign they know. The kiRAB will probably start off all cocky, then the orignal GBs will prolly get taken away somewhere (like Hell perhaps?) and the new kiRAB will al be like yeh lets save them and try to look uber cool while doing it.

It would just be awfully hard to get the story and cast right for that storyline.

Personally, I think there best betwould be to do a completely new film with a different cast. And not have it relate to the first 2 GB films at all. A bit like they did with Batman Begins (which I thought was gonna be awful), they jsut ignored the first 4 films and never enve tried to make reference to them it was a new film, new story, etc. Though I'm not suggesting that the GB film be a prequel of sorts at all.

I don't think that it would be worth doing another film without the major 4 + Dana, Louis and Janine...

How about doing a Star Wars and redoing the animated scenes in GB1 with computer graphics?
Let's face it, those "dogs" were horrible...

gaffer

Can someone also explain to me what exactly the point in Winston is?? He does little in both movies, and isn't a Dr like the others. In the credits he's quite low down.

In the Ghostbusters cartoon he had really big part though.

Strange??

Yeh, Harold Ramis was talking about GB3 a few months back, and (unfortunately) it highly unlikely to ever happen. (Money was an issue, plus 'I can't say my heart was really in it') :(

Dan's script was called 'Ghostbusters go to Hell!' and 90% of the movie is a special effect set entirely in Hell.

There was an idea to bring in some of the SNL (Chris Rock, Chris Farley and Ben Stiller) guys in pick up the torch, with the original GBs as Senior Ghostbusters... Still in the movie, but not having to do all the hard work. ;)

At the time, Murray hadn't totally refused the role actually, he'd said he would come back.. but only if he could play Venkman as a ghost! (think that would have been friking awesome!) ;) :D

No, nobody else can play the guys apart from the actors from the original movies! It just wouldn't be right.

They'd have to get Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis back as well.

I think it would be good to have them as semi-retired office workers [in ghostbusters hq] and have a squad of new busters, But the twist in the story is have the ghost's conspire against the busters and somehow kidnap the new team leaving the original over the hill busters to save the day again.

I'm probably one of the few that liked it. :o

I think it was a struggle to get the second film made really. Murray was reluctant.

The third ghostbusters film has been rumoured for years though. I think its too late really. The original actors are too old now really. It would be far better to have them pass the torch onto a younger group of comic actors. Actors like Stiller/Wilson/Ferrel etc.

How about this:

Ray & Egon are still involved and form new busters...
Pete is married to Dana and is doing something else...
Winston is also doing his own thing...

Something goes wrong, the Mayor of NYC phones up Egon & Ray....who persuade the other two to strap their proton packs back on!

gaffer, excited

It's too late to do this now. They were considering it a few years ago but they decided to pull it. The idea was that to save the world they have to go to Hell to bring somebody/something back and Ray and Venkman get trapped there or something. Anyway, Hell was going to be like a twisted version of New York with lava running down the streets and everything. There was also going to be younger Ghostbusters that the others were training up to replace them. They wanted younger comedy actors like Ben Stiller to play them.

Yeah perhaps a reimaging, like they did with BattleStar Galatica. But definitely not a remake like Starsky and Hutch or Charlies Angels type film. :(

I've given this more thought and after discussing with a friend of mine - they definitely should NOT do another Ghostbusters movie. We tried to think of all the possible storylines they could come up with and decided that there's no chance any of them would work well. It's best left alone.
