Ghostbusters 3?

I used to visit the ghostbusters.net forums , it's still a great film and for all of us that were kiRAB in the 80s, it was a major film in our childhood (still one of my faves).

ghostbusters.net said that Aykroyd and Ramis had a script, but that Murray didn't want to do a third, as he was scared of being typecast.

I also believe that Sony/Columbia weren't too eager...

Anyway, it's a shame, for all us fans...

Is GB2 reshown on E4?

It was on last night really late on E4, yet they were showing the horribly cut pre-watershed version shown at teatime on Channel 4 some months ago. Stick to the DVD's.

Paddy :D

Ghostbusters 2 was the first film I ever saw in the Cinema when I was seven! We were so excited because we'd practically worn out our tape of the original film. My brother had all the toys, the proton pack, the trap that they used to catch the ghosts in, Ecto-1, the fire station, the Marshmallow man, slimer and loaRAB of tubs of ectoplasm!

He also had all the figures from the cartoon version(which we also loved).

Memories!! :D

The bloke who played Egon is now 62 apparently!!

So yes its safe to say they probably are too old. But I'd have loved to have seen it.

It's pretty much like when they remade the Ghostbusters cartoon. The original was a part of my childhood that I loved, and I had the misfortune of seeing the supposed updated version for modern audiences. What the **** was that supposed to be??

Using replacements instead of the original guys who made the film what it was is a mistake. They shouldn't try to recreate it with modern actors. It won't work.

I completely agree - I've got a real bee in my bonnet about all the crap re-makes they keep doing. If they dare to re-make Ghostbusters or any Brat Pack film I will fly to America and picket!!!

How about this...

The business of Ghostbusters has been sold off now that the original crew have saved the world twice and supernatural activity has been reduced to the odd spook here and and there.
The Ghostbusters (now owned by a media corporation) have a new team consisting of a couple of newbies . Peter and Egon are in retirement, but Ray and Winston have been brought back as judges of 'Wanna Be A Ghostbuster' a reality show to choose a new Ghostbuster.
Ray and Winston upon seeing the new batch of wannabe Ghostbusters realise they're having problems letting go of ghostbusting unlike Peter and Egon and decide to chuck the whole thing in until Ray discovers the followers of Zuul- a cult, and soon believes he has found evidence of the impending return of Zuul, bent on revenge with the promise of returning more powerful than before. Only problem is most people think this is a publicity stunt for the tv show. Winston has to whip the newbies into shape for the upcoming battle and Ray has to convince Peter and Egon to return and help out.
...or something like that.
The new Ghostbusters could be Sarah Chalke, Jason Lee and Simon Pegg as the Ghostbusters fanboy who finally wins the show only to have to face an angry Zuul.
The franchise restarts here folks! :D

ahh the memories! I loved the first two movies as a kid, I was always a big Ghostbusters fan lol it was so long ago now it'd seem too weird to suddenly come out with another movie I think... but yup that brings back some memories alright! me and my dad made a ghost trap from an old shoe box lol

Goast Bustaz 3 would be good. It's a shame as some in here earlier have said Bill Murray wont do it. I dont know why? maybe he thinks he is above this sort of movie now. It wont be any worse than Charlie's Angels and Lost In Translation which he starred in.

I think he doesn't want to be typecast...though, he is older now!
Look at the FrienRAB/Seinfeld actors, they will always be remembered and referred to as one character...

You could have a point there. But from a personal view I think he should do another GB. He wont be type cast at all, not in my eyes. As it will only be a third GB movie, not a 5th or 6th one. Kane Hodder is type cast as he has appeared as Jason in more Firday the 13th movies than you could wave a stick at. Bill as Peter in the GB movies is a good thing, only he neeRAB to realise this. It wont do him any harm.

I chose Ray and Winston as the judges as in GB2 they were the ones doing childrens parties as Ghostbusters so to me they seemed more inclined to hang onto their glory days.

If Bill Murray can do Garfield he can do GB3 for goodness sake, and he wouldn't have to carry the film either.
