Geek Cast Radio Network's Top 100 Animated Series Countdown

The problem with Ren & Stimpy is when you watch it again, so few episodes are worth lauding. Even during the Spumco years, it was just a very hit or miss show, and gets more praise than it deserves.

While it did have some importance to the industry, I don't think it should rank too high.

How do you get the "1955-1996" run for Looney Tunes? The first Looney Tune (Sinkin' in the Bathtub) was created in 1930 and the last in 1969 (Injun Trouble).

In which case it's been on TV longer, since it was alternately on Cartoon Network, Kids' WB, Boomerang, and even Turner Classic Movies until the mid-2000s (and just started airing on Cartoon Network again). And since all of the classic Looney Tunes were originally in theaters, then every single TV run would count as repeats...

One more thing to note: it's really weird to hear myself on the podcast. Even weirder given the part I told you to cut was still there. Makes me sound really awkward. Also awkward since I was expecting it to be heard in the middle of the show and then directly addressed; while my questions were generally answered a bit earlier, it's weird to hear them asked after the show. Guess I just didn't know what was coming.

sorry about that I didn't even hear you say cut anything in the 2nd voicemail you sent.
We always play Voicemails after discussions not before. We listen to them off air put them in the shows then respond. Having to insert voicemails inside an audio discussion is kinda audio editing magic and we are lazy geeks lol

Again thanks for all the support from rabroad.

I understand your points but we are not trying to go into too much 'detail' in each of these shows. We are assuming many of the listeners already know the shows so we are more discussing their placement and just doing some brief commentary. We don't want this whole series to be any longer than it will be (8-10 hours) in the end. If we did what you are suggesting it would be MUCH MUCH longer AND like I said before NO ONE knows the identity of the shows before we reveal them live on the record so there is no opportunity for anyone to do any 'researching' off the shows. I don't think you should expect in seconds people to come up with numbers from sales/marketing etc.

Also, people wouldnt have to listen to EVERY episode before commenting. They could listen to just one episode (1-2 hrs) and then chime in and then listen again the next week etc.

Don't mind Mike he sometimes comes off as being rude but doesnt mean to trust me.

I have enjoyed listening to all your comments and hope to keep hearing from you all for the next couple of weeks.

BTW how much podcasting and marketing experience do you have ;)

as far as disservice it might be but since he is the "creator" nah. it's really him I have the issues with. And as far as R&S I just don't find it funny I find it gross and just offensive. At least I did when I saw episodes of it a few years ago.

And yes Episode 25 the final countdown episode will be delayed til later this evening maybe even tomorrow morning. But it will be released this week.

Are we getting the paperback or hardback version for participating ?

Like I've said, I've tried contacting the site admins twice about it recently and a few times in the past. I just flat out get no response.

I'd be more then willing to headline or arrowhead the project. I think as big and as well known as TZ is, it's almost a must for this site.

Once again, there seems to be no interest.

Really, like I said, I think you guys should try to specialize on doing some top 10 or top 25 specialty countdowns and get some real ideas in your mind where you think say He-Man, Transformers, MASK and GI Joe's 80s versions rank against each other. It makes it so much easier if you can backup why one of those shows should be higher or lower then another when you actually go for the big 100 countdown.

You could really make a show almost entirely out of countdowns (they DO do it for music!) on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. I'm not sure you guys would want to commit to something like that, but you know; its something everyone will talk about!

This site gave a lot of open PR to your broadcast largely because this is a very compelling topic that a lot of TZ *LOVES* to do. I'm really actually curious why some people aren't commenting in this thread that would normally be in the trenches in this form of discussion. It feels as though they just didn't get the memo!
