I just got turned down from bear411. No idea why, no notice either. I'm fat. I'm hairy. I'm demonstrably masculine. The whole thing reminds me how, in high school, the goth clique develoed in parallel to the "popular kids". The clique grew so large that eventually, it developed its own stratifications, but the people at the top were 10X meaner than the traditional "cool crowd".
Edit: I don't know how to post a pic and think its somewhat besides the point since the culture itself started in large part as a reaction to an overly rigid mainstream beauty standard. Take my word for it though, I'm very hairy, overweight but not gross/obese with "average", not ugly features. I fit very, very well into the physical expectations of the category.
Edit: I don't particularly care about *MY* label. It is a single website, and I have no problem finding and attracting the sort of guys I was looking for on that single website. My concern is that a subculture which, at one time developed as a reaction to a narrow and repressive beauty standard, has now begun to enforce what appears to be an even more narrow and rigid standard. My website examle was just one instance of this.

I thought "bear culture" was about accepting your natural body. I'm not a part of that sub-group, but I thought that was what "bears" were about, maybe I was mistaken.
