As much as you wanna say he does, the president has no control over how much oil prices are, if you wanna bitch at someone for it bit at these guys...
http://www.opec.org/home/
11 middle east countries that set the price for barrels of crude oil, which is currently at $62.23 per barrel. Take that, get it to oil refineries over here, factor in the cost of the purification that is required to turn crude oil into all forums of fuel, kerosene, gasoline, diesel, motor oil, etc etc. The cost to ship the stuff all over the country, what gas companies have to pay for it from the refineries. If that wasn't enough, everyone must make a profit, so there is gonna be a tad bit of inflation, this is to factor in salary for employees. So after you look at it, it's really more of 11 countries being greedy little bitches and the companies here trying to break even, and I say trying to break even because last I checked companies are only making $0.08 per gallon, and most gas stations don't even make a profit off of gas, they make most of their profit off of in store sells, such as alcohol, tobacco products, and junk food.
Another thing I don't get from all of this is people wanting to not buy gas for one day, this is a horrible idea. If you don't buy gas for a day then all you are doing is forcing a company to loose profit for one day. Unless everyone decides to walk to work, school, and other places we all go then there is always gonna be a demand for gas. One day of not buying gas is going to cause the companies to raise gas prices even more to make up for lost profits. Also, us not buying gas will have no effect what so ever on opec, they could care less if we don't buy for one day, we are still going to end up buying their oil. They know that they are in charge and that there is nothing we can do about it.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you want to bitch about something do your research so you know why something is the way it is. As much as everyone hates government (b/c people hate being told what to do), and as much as government does mess up from time to time, not everything is the government's fault. Government has become a joke in the past few years and has turned into the biggest scape goat ever.
