Gas Prices...

...are freaking HORRIBLE. In my town, they're at about $3.44 a gallon, but in other places in WA, they've already reached $4.00 per gallon. I know it's not as bad as it is in California, but jeez. Enough is enough. The end.

Going for 2.99-3.08 around here.

Such a piss off, being a pizza delivery driver and all. Would have been a much better job a decade or so ago. The money is still decent for my age/work experience, but I'm starting to become extremely, extremely irritated.

Lord forbid we even think about using a renewable rescource to power our vehicles or anything else. The oh so important politicians wouldn't make nearly as much money! And, boy, they deserve it.

As much as you wanna say he does, the president has no control over how much oil prices are, if you wanna bitch at someone for it bit at these guys...

http://www.opec.org/home/

11 middle east countries that set the price for barrels of crude oil, which is currently at $62.23 per barrel. Take that, get it to oil refineries over here, factor in the cost of the purification that is required to turn crude oil into all forums of fuel, kerosene, gasoline, diesel, motor oil, etc etc. The cost to ship the stuff all over the country, what gas companies have to pay for it from the refineries. If that wasn't enough, everyone must make a profit, so there is gonna be a tad bit of inflation, this is to factor in salary for employees. So after you look at it, it's really more of 11 countries being greedy little bitches and the companies here trying to break even, and I say trying to break even because last I checked companies are only making $0.08 per gallon, and most gas stations don't even make a profit off of gas, they make most of their profit off of in store sells, such as alcohol, tobacco products, and junk food.

Another thing I don't get from all of this is people wanting to not buy gas for one day, this is a horrible idea. If you don't buy gas for a day then all you are doing is forcing a company to loose profit for one day. Unless everyone decides to walk to work, school, and other places we all go then there is always gonna be a demand for gas. One day of not buying gas is going to cause the companies to raise gas prices even more to make up for lost profits. Also, us not buying gas will have no effect what so ever on opec, they could care less if we don't buy for one day, we are still going to end up buying their oil. They know that they are in charge and that there is nothing we can do about it.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you want to bitch about something do your research so you know why something is the way it is. As much as everyone hates government (b/c people hate being told what to do), and as much as government does mess up from time to time, not everything is the government's fault. Government has become a joke in the past few years and has turned into the biggest scape goat ever.

...and how ever many e's=$'s. Gas prices here have reached about $3.20. It is getting pathetic, what we need is an alternative fuel source instead of looking to somehow lower the price of the soon to be (with our rate of oil usage) deminished fuel source. I don't exactly have the stats on how much oil this earth has left that is easily accessible, etc. but I've heard people talk about it and this is the picture I'm drawing. If you know something different, please correct me. :)

This is the #1 reason I am in absolutely no hurry to get my driver's license.
Sure, I'd be able to drive, but I can't afford to get anywhere. :happysad:

Here in Cali, the prices were pretty low earlier this year, like $2.50 to 2.75/gal, sometimes higher, but it didn't pass $3.00 AGAIN until a few months ago.

 to natural resource monopolies!

Well, since one Euro dollar = $1.35 today that means that you're paying $2.56 a Liter. And given Tostig's answer to Liter's per Gallon that equates to: $9.70 a gallon.

The US subsidizes the hell out of gasoline keeping it cheap to buy.

So for all you sad fucks bitching about $3 or $4 a gallon, learn to walk.

Actually I believe that a lot of your cost is in taxes isn't it? Of course a lot of ours is too but I think that a lot of the difference between prices here and there can be credited to taxes.

The price of gas wouldn't bother me if Exxon didn't post a $39.5 billion profit last year.

PROFIT! That's after overhead like facilities, salaries, R&D, etc. Fucking monopolist pirates.

I don't know, I live in Idaho which has one of the highest gas taxes in the country and no refining capability.

Exxon made their huge profits by not only gouging the customer but because they've been given HUGE tax breaks and government sponsorship.
