Spunky Rhino!!!

I'm just going down the road minding my own business and BAM, red light. Being the law abiding citizen that I am a stop at the light. I patiently wait for the green light that means go, and I press the gas petal to go. To my surprise, the car does nothing. The radio is still bumping, airs still blowing, but the car wouldn't go. So I put in in park, then back to drive, but nothing. Back in park, key comes out, back in and and start it up, starts fine, zooms straight through the light and continue my day. Happened twice in the 4 months since I adopted my 1996 lincoln town car with 197000 miles. Apparently, parenting counselors don't help when parenting cars, so I have turned to here. I don't want to raise my baby to be a car that won't leave lights, please help me!
It didn't rev or anything, I don't have a rpm gauge, but I don't need it to know that the engine did nothing. It was literally like I had not pushed the pedal
It pushed just as easy as when it goes normally
