Gas pedal is non responsive?

I'm just going down the road minding my own business and BAM, red light. Being the law abiding citizen that I am a stop at the light. I patiently wait for the green light that means go, and I press the gas petal to go. To my surprise, the car does nothing. The radio is still bumping, airs still blowing, but the car wouldn't go. So I put in in park, then back to drive, but nothing. Back in park, key comes out, back in and and start it up, starts fine, zooms straight through the light and continue my day. Happened twice in the 4 months since I adopted my 1996 lincoln town car with 197000 miles. Apparently, parenting counselors don't help when parenting cars, so I have turned to here. I don't want to raise my baby to be a car that won't leave lights, please help me!
It didn't rev or anything, I don't have a rpm gauge, but I don't need it to know that the engine did nothing. It was literally like I had not pushed the pedal
It pushed just as easy as when it goes normally

Try this maybe it works, Go to any of your local parts store and buy a box (cleaning throttle body), you take your air filter and remove the large hose connected to your throttle body and filter. Spray cleaner inside the throttle body, open and spray around the throttle pivot open and close. What happens is you get an accumulation of carbon in these areas, and causes the gas pedal to feel like it is stuck and have to apply more pressure on the pedal. You will see a lot of black carbon removed from the throttle body. Take a clean cloth and wipe the body throotle region. Repeat cleaning 1-2 times. put your air intake hose back and re-install your filter. It may seem difficult to start at the beginning, but dry cleaning has been injected into the body. Try this and see if it works. It is easy and you'll take for only 30 minutes in working this one.
