Ok, so I got the DVD yesterday when it came out & I gotta say, I loved this movie! I am really into Indie Films, & wanted to see Zach Braff in something more dramatic than Scrubs, & I was also a Natalie Portman fan, so I thought, why not. Omg, I loved this movie! It started out kinda mellow, but I loved how it progressed...as Andrew became more attached to the people around him, I did w/the movie.

And I have to say, it won me over w/what I think is the best scene in the entire movie, Andrew & Sam's kiss in the rain! I am a huge sucker for rain kisses, I adore them- they are truly the most romantic things ever, imo, so I loved that!

I think Zach Braff has so much potential to become a great Filmmaker, b/c he was brilliant w/this movie. I hope he continues directing.

I absolutely loved this movie. I had a lot of expectations for it, like I do for a lot of movies and unlike others, this one did not let me down. It was even better than I expected. Natalie, Zach and Peter were all so great. I love the scene when Andrew's talking to the cop and he's talking about how he used to do coke off urinals and the cop is like "lalala!"

Natalie and Zach had great chemistry. I really want to see this movie again. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Went to see it on Sunday and love love loved it! I thought it was original and Natalie and Zach were just excellent in it.And normally,I never buy the sountrack to a movie or even really notice the music in a movie, but the music in Garden State was wonderful.I just bought the cd and I love it.All the songs I love. When I heard Natalie's character mention The Shins I thought it was great since they're like my favorite band!

I can't find the soundtrack at any of my local record stores right now, either. Going to see the movie tomorrow, though. So excited, after months of waiting!

For me the movie actually change my life a little. It made me realize (am I spelling that right) that being yourself is important. It kinda gave me a small boost of confidence.

nah, they filmed in South Orange, i think in Essex County, I live a bit north of that, in Passaic County.

This movie will change your life.

I think everyone who has just graduated from college, didn't go to college, graduating high school and about to go to college and everyone else should see this film. It is just that good.

I disagree. Although I can see why people 30+ wouldn't be able to relate as well. I don't see it as you have to be 25 or under to be effected. If this film isn't "Life Altering" then I don't know what can be considered that. To our generation where most of us are just coaxing through life without really having to account for anything or anyone else this movie really is a wake up call. I don't want to wake up in eight years and about to be thirty and realize that I haven't accomplished anything. That I had slept through the last ten-years of my life. I can't speak for anyone else but this movie was Life Altering for me.

i cant wait to see this movie.... they played the preview twice before a movie i saw 2 weeks ago... i wanted a thrid time

Saw the movie for the first time over the weekend. And let me just say it was so strange. But the romance was so cute and weird at the same time. Definitly a unique movie.

thanks! i'm definitely gonna try and get that song. natalie portman looks so funny and adorable in the trailer when she made this funny face and body action.

'garden state'....wow!!!!....what a movie.....one of the best i've seen in a long long time......

peter sarsgaard and zach braff star.....both are excellent.....written and directed by zach braff.......although the real stars of this film are the music....and natalie portman......she steals every scene that she's in......

in very very limted release.......well worth any kind of driving or distance to see......if you see any movie at all in a theater this year...this is the one to see.....recommended viewing.......:star::star::star::star::star:

Myabe I'm missing something....I went to see this in the theater...but I had to leave because it was so boring.

I then bought the dvd...thinking that maybe I should give it another chance..

 ..

It's not for me.

Claudia

PS. I just want to say that, just because I didn't like the movie...Doesn't mean that you have to "convince me" how good it is.

It's ok to not like something.

I love those quotes. I need to see this movie again. I can't wait for the dvd to come out.

how about just a few?.......

Don't tease me about my hobbies, i don't tease you about being an *******!

Sam: I just realize that its silly to take anything too seriously.

Good luck in the infinite abyss.

You feel homesick for a place that doesnt exist

I'll take a hug.

Someone stole my Wolf Blitzer

I'm going to kill that mother****er -Pun intended?

You know that point in your life when you realize the house you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? That idea of home is gone. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.

Oh and by the way, it says 'balls' on your face.

How do you feel? safe, I feel safe when I'm with you I feel like home

Sam: I recognize you. Andrew: Oh, did you go to Columbia High? Sam: No, not from high school. From TV. Did you play the retarded quarterback? Andrew: Yeah. Sam: Are you really retarded? Andrew: No. Sam: Cool. Great job, man. I mean, I thought you were really retarded. You're just as good as that Corky kid, and he's actually retarded. I mean, if there's some sort of, like, retarded Oscars, you would win, like, hands down, kick his ass.

You gotta hear this song. It will change your life I promise you.

We'll probably head over as soon as we're done burying your mom

I made you a shirt and i want you to try it on now. Now? Yeah, just in case it doesn't fit and we don't see you for another 9 year

I'm your new friend Sam!

This is your one oppritunity to do something that no one has ever done before & no one will copy through out human existance. And if nothing else you'll be remembered as the one guy who ever did this.. this one thing.

I can tap dance. Wanna see me tap dance?

We're not going to like make out or anything... what? i'm sorry i just like totally ruined that moment

If you don't laugh at yourself, life is going to seem a lot longer than you want it to.

I loved this movie. I thought the cast was such a great fit and the soundtrack was good. I felt like Natalie Portman came on a little strong like she was trying too much in the first scene but was much better later.

HOWEVER, I have to agree with those who were disappointed in the ending.

Ok, I just felt like they changed Natalie's character too much. She was quirky yet vibrant and strong for the most part. I felt that her sobbing - particularly after he left when she was in the phone booth - was excessive and just not "her". I think it would have been better, if someone had to really be sobbing so much, would have been if it would have been Large. I mean, he was the one who hadn't felt much in years so I think I would have felt the ending a little more. As it was, the final scenes between Sam and Large bothered me. I mean, I liked the "what now?" aspect and deciding they wanted to be together regardless was fine. But Natalie was too emotional...it seemed out of character. I mean, it really wasn't since she stopped lying to herself :) but it kind of was. Does that make sense?
