Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

Another anime based on a manga by Hiromu Arakawa? Definitely worth checking out.

I need to blow all my money on FUNimation from RightStuf now.

You have to remeraber, as it was pointed out yesterday, probably the biggest reason Funimation is releasing these titles is that FUnimation's sister division under Navarre, BCI, was closed down. This is appropriate consolidation, the more profitable Asian animation division is taking over the business of the unprofitable Asian film one. And announcing that with this roll-out is a great way to announce the development.

And with FUNimation dipping into other ventures (original animation), it seems Tokugawa Gen...er, Mr. Fukunaga, is building himself quite the ultimate niche empire...

Uhm, really dude?
I beg to differ.
It's just a big matter of fans out right kicking and screaming "GIMMIE MOAR ANIMEZ NOW!" bad spelling and all.
As many have said, this isn't FUNi's first venture into live-action and it seems profitable for them.
Just because their usual "Roll-Outs" are anime related doesn't mean they're 100 % a "Anime" company.
They've been doing live-action way back with distributing Degrassi.
If you want more anime, go buy the back catalog of titles.

I'm torn between the idea of FLCL having a new dub because it's not something like One Piece in which the re-dubbing was necessary since I always felt the FLCL dub was really good. Like pretty equal to the Japanese version. It'd be like if FUNi decided to redub Cowboy Bebop or something.

Sure, because if it's not anime then it's not worth paying attention to. Come on guys. It's not garbage simply due to not being what you were expecting.

Please, they've been doing live action since the nineties.

Hello, Chuck E. Cheese and the Galaxy 5000 (starring Duncan Brannan as Chuck E., with Chris Sabat cameoing as a piano player).

Speaking of live action, I've always wondered why nobody has ever considered bringing over some uncut sentai titles. I know we have Power Rangers, but it's not the same...

I would definitely buy a few sentai sets if they were available.

Most likely due to licensing issues w/ Disney.
Added, it's probably a very niche market; myself and other Godzilla fans (i.e. DarthGonzo) would love to see a release of "Zone Fighter" but I dunno if it'll ever happen. I know the guys at HJU would love to see any Toku comeover.
...
WHERE IS GARO!?

Well... I suppose it did need a new home and I'm rather liking the idea of a Blu-ray release that wont cost an arm and a leg or a DVD release at a reasonable price for that matter. I'd definently pick this up if it's the original dub, if they re-dub... I'd want to watch it before I bought it. Because as good as FUNi can be sometimes they just make some odd choices.

What I want to know is if this affects the TV deal with Adult Swim or if AS already lost it when Synch-Point bit the big one. Moribito managed to cross-hanRAB afterall.

I want Digimon lisenced than no other man would. I actually just watched my old digimon movie dvd yesterday which sparked my interest again. I seriously hope funimation(if not them the guys releasing digimon data squad) will get the serious and will keep the original dub but will make it uncut.

But FUNimation is KNOWN for licensing anime, and I seriously doubt too many people that are interested in the other stuff are paying any attention to the Roll Out Riot.

They can do all of the live action they want, but they aren't their main attractions. It's just a waste to announce this stuff when you've got all of the anime fans watching.
