Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

If this is all a build up to announce the acquisition of Gintama, that would be terribly appropriate. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sunrise put 'em up to it being the trolls that they are. XD

But this likely isn't the case.

Gah, all of this hostility just reminRAB me what I hate about anime fandom. Good gravy people, it's a hobby, not your entire existence. >.

Official Japanese sites, for those interested:

From the trailers, Kamui Gaiden looks awesome and Robogeisha is crazy in a good way

The name "Riot" is more appropriate than we realized

Sony are going to be releasing it on DVD/Blu-ray in the US so that's not going to happen. http://www.japanator.com/otakon-09-a-few-things-i-learned-from-the-aniplex-booth-10606.phtml

FUNimation's twitter confirmed that day 3 will be anime and dropped a one-word clue: "surreal."

Since it's come up I understand that Summer Wars does happen to involve a virtual world of sorts besides our own, but who knows...

From Twitter: today's announcement will be an Anime. They also gave a one word hint: 'surreal'.

EDIT: *Stomps GWOtaku with RX-78-2*

Does it mean anything that ANN has a news story today that Kamui and Summer Wars were being released in the UK by Manga UK?

Is there a connection between the two films? If Funimation has Kamui does that mean they also have Summer Wars? That would be happy news for anime fans. I saw a sub of Summer Wars, it's great.

It's an interesting parallel, but I'd say that the news offers no guarantee about which R1 company will release that movie. Manga UK's licensing activity is distinct from what goes on in the R1 market (example: they apparently release Naruto in the UK).

Yeah, I know that. But, it's been nearly a year since the last episode hit PSN. I'm impatient.
Bakemonogatari? Zetsubou-Sensei? Both? Place your bets!

I have to admit it's speculation. Summer Wars is bound to be licensed but I'd think Bandai would be more likely (or more suited) to get it since they already have The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

Maybe it's a licensing rescue of Utena.

(To which hundreRAB of anime forums will erupt with "Arggh! I already seen that! When is Funi going to announce something NEW?")

Edit: ROFL. I was close. It's a licensing rescue of FLCL, according to ANN.
