Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

I'm really hoping with Paris slated to complete the show, FUNimation might give this a real go. However, considering the much American-in-tone Beck didn't fare too well, I could see them being wary of another music series (even though Nodame's a shojo series.) At this point though, I'd settle for subonly sets via Sentai or RightStuf though (though this would be hot to run after Nana and Ouran on the FUNi channel, and that means a dub.)

Let's hope it's an actual new license and not just a re-release of a former Geneon-or-ADV property. And yeah, I'm hoping for Higurashi Kai too.

I do not think need the former is necessary, nor the latter as much. Putting out live action films hardly means the end of the world. It just means there is one more product of theirs out on the shelf for purchase.

...what for? Animation still occupies an extremely high percentage of their catalog. I'm actually glad to see them branching out a bit.

Ever think that, maybe, FUNimation is mixing in their live-action fare with the anime so that people will, y'know, notice them? They're an anime company, first and foremost, and thus, most of their fans are anime fans. Why would FUNimation's followers pay attention to their live-action films unless they make them pay attention?

Day 4 is... Hero Tales & Platonic Hearts

IMPO...Yay for Hero Tales..Boo to Platonic Hearts..seriosly the thing is just as bad as QB!

Overall this has been an average rollout aside from FLCL, nothing really to get to excited about.

Trigun is the only relicense I'd be excited for. The relicense of Trigun would pave the way for the license of the movie, which would be an actual new license.

Well, while I'd love it, I wouldn't be surprised by it either. It's a damn good show, and maybe the last really accessible anime we may see for a good piece of time if the move by animation studios towarRAB focusing on the Japanese otaku segment continues. It has to come to America, and really it'd better do well too.

Heh.

Oddly enough, people seemed to be accepting of Death Note live action when it came out. Yeah, Death Note is a popular title, but that's not really a reason to treat it differently.

Hopefully they have something nice for us tomorrow. So far it's FLCL and...well...the Shaw Brothers stuff is pretty cool. Should move well for them.

Yea I have to admit, like most I was peeved by the LA annoncments at first, but Now I'm thinking the shaw stuff would be a really fun purchase, end Robogeisha & that other LA, would be fun rentals.

FLCL is of course AWSOME! & I'm Glad Hero Tales is getting a DUB!

heck anything is better then Platonic Hearts...wich has a severly misleading name IMPO, I mean sounRAB like a romance, but is acutally just more animated smut!

But yea, hopefully Tommarow will be somthing really big, like Pandora Hearts, Sailor Moon, the new Tenchi spin off, the YYH movies, a Trigun save...there are so many awsome things Funi could do..but the way the rollout has been going I doubt it'll be anything all that great..but here's hoping!

Hero Tales is from the creator FMA, and I like that. Master of Martial Hearts has got the perv in me a little bit excited. Thank you Funimation got the digital rights to both, as I will probably need to see these on Hulu/YouTube/FuniVideo before I consider buying them.

Oh yeah, here's the fine print for those of you not bothering, courteously from Funi's News section (ie not the blog).

Hong Kong Connection: no press release given
RoboGeisha: home video, broadcast and digital rights
Kamui Gaiden: home video, broadcast and theatrical rights (with Sochiku now on Hulu, they'll probably still have those digital rights)
FLCL: home entertainment and digital rights
Jyushin Enbu Hero Tales: home entertainment, broadcast, merchandise, and digital rights
Master of Martial Arts: home entertainment, merchandise, and digital rights

Come on, Funi! This is the second straight day my wallet flat-out refused to buy your products (although they are all solid "will try 'em out" and good gets). Give me something on Friday that screams "BUY ME!"

I thought Nodame Cantabile was a Josei manga?

If anything Nodame Cantabile is at least a well liked series. Considering how many obscure anime titles I've seen licensed by FUNimation (obscure as in I never hear about them anywhere else.) Nodame Cantabile seems like it would have a decent chance.

That's not saying I expect FUNimation to license it... The manga's been licensed for some time, though. It's actually funny because Nodame Cantabile is like the one exception where I experienced a series through the manga first.
