FullMetal Alchemist New Series 2009

The reason I made that post earlier is because the manga just hit a climax with this month's chapter. It's tough to see it not ending sometime this year (with the monthly releases and all).

Oh yeah completely forgot that FMA is short. Also, I think I have an idea how they are going to get back out of the gate or wherever that creepy dude sended them. Probably the same way he got out of the homunculi when Edward got stuck inside the endless place. Or at least somewhat that way.

Episodes have been great so far and really enjoying all this new content.

Mustang killing Ross not so cool, though I suppose he is trying to keep a low profile while he bides his time?

Just watched episode 40. I must say it was amazing. So many answers to so many questions.

I didn't expect Hoenheim to be a philosopher's stone. Things are definitely getting more interesting.

How close is the show to being caught up to the manga?

i liked the first series but half the time i was thinking 'wheres the awesome plot i saw in the manga?' i preferred the plot of the manga and am hoping that this remake follows the manga more closely *seems pretty close so far*.

i hope you're right about that

it was a bit annoying how the episode ended without much action (besides the few seconRAB Scar is shown...getting pwned). I loved the bits where Ed n' Al got into lab 5 and fight the armors/former prisoners.

still the manga hasn't been finished, soon they will though. All I will say is that the manga is WAY BETTER than the anime, and if they remake the anime so it becomes more like the manga this will be one of the best animes.

Guys not trying to be an ass but if you have a topic other than this direct show start another thread. This thread is for discussion about FMA Brotherhood directly.

The new series is to premiere on April.

Makes sense for it to air in April. Spring season is the season of premieres. Can't wait.

Interesting first episode. I like it so far.

This one is a filler in the sense that it deviates from the manga's storyline. The manga really did start off with the whole priest in Lior deal. So right off the bat, it's unfaithful in that sense. Although, it looks like they'll start with the manga storyline in the coming episodes.

I'm looking forward to it pretty much because of the differences. In general, the key differences between the manga and first anime revolved around the gates and the villains. I almost want to say the gates become a kind of plot armor in the first TV anime which they aren't used as in the manga. And the main villain is completely different (obviously).

They'll probably have different emphasis regarding themes as well. The incompleteness of equivalent exchange was the conclusion in the first anime. I don't expect this series to come to the same conclusions they (Bones) did.

Episode 32
So KB basically told Al and Ed in this episode that if they were to harm his family it would have little to no effect on him, unlike if he was to harm their family/frienRAB which would, it was the whole reason why he went there and to top it off he left them alone after pointing that out to further drive the message through to them, not that Al or Ed would harm them anyway, looks like all this stuff in the north is going to get heated soon too.

Then it wouldn't be FMA. The remake is going to close to the manga. This means:
1) They will not be following another person, even other characters with the same name. Al and Eric are THE main characters.
2) They will not be looking at it from a homuculus's point of view. The really defeats the purpose of following the manga. And the homoculus's didn't show up until later.
3) Yes, the original series was very good, classic evenly, but they didn't follow the manga very well. This remake will only be better since they will be using the source material.

Well, I always advise those who are not that satisfied with the early episodes to at least give it a chance until it gets to the point where it stops covering material from the first series, which enRAB at around episode 13/14 here. Don't want to overhype the series for you, but a lot of people who didn't like the early episodes but stuck it through end up very much satisfied in the long run.

hurf durf their mother died, unless you're some kind of emotional cripple there's no need to belabor the relationship; IT'S THEIR FRICKIN' MOTHER.
