Full metal alchemist: Ed's arm.

So I was remerabering right that he is only staying alive by the alchemy syrabol inside his armor? And yes thats true but you would be dead trying to get that close to remove it.

LoL, i guess so. but what if someone sneaked up on you? well i guess it's not like you'd have a reason to constantly worry about someone sneaking up on you for no reason though...

Yeah cept if you had a full automail body and only had a head if you get shot like Alphonse did many times in the first time he did he was shot in the eye with what we are talking about the person would die.

I agree with this. How could he feel anything with metal arm? There are probably only sensors on fingers and no nerves in arm at all. Only things in it are mechanical parts connectend only on top of his arm with his nerves, so he can't feel anything even transmuting it but he can move the arm.

so are saying you'd prefer to be like Al? i think i'd rather be a Homonculus, since they're pretty like humans but they never age and never die

Yeah but you do gotta think of it from a realistic standpoint even though its an anime. And it would hurt alot but as its been said its never shown that he is in pain.

it would probably get in the way of the story plot though to have Ed go "omg! it hurts so bad!" everytime he wanted to make that knife thing with his arm.

Although I love Full Metal Alchemist, you must remeraber it's just an anime, and they can't put all details into it.
Realistically, of course it would hurt, but again, you can't have everything and expect the show to come out great because of the restrictions.

If Ed felt pain every time, would the creator have to worry about hurting him to often, and then after a while, it would get old. Get what I mean?
Like,
"Oh look! Bad guys!"
"*transmute* OH GOD, THE PAIN"
*replay*
Gets boring. xD

You have to think of it this way, Ed's arm is metal, metal doesn't have nerves, the most it means by when they connect the nerves is that he has mobility of the arm, not pain.

Mobility is key, when ever it's destroyed its no big deal because he feels no pain from the arm.

I mean come on you gotta be tough cause if you can go through a arm and leg automailed to your body and survive it then you really are tough and any other pain is just nothing compared to that.

Ed's arm shouldn't hurt, because he only has the nerves to move it, not the nerves to feel pain.

The thing that really makes no sense is how Al talks with no voicebox.
