Friend's pink slip showing

So my friend got fired from his job as an IT tech for a local dating service. He was told the position was "not needed" and was going to be contracted out, or something.

He's been told this isn't the truth, and that he was just replaced by someone who will work the job for less basically, and thinks he can sue for some compensation, since they basically left him on the street. (Not literally, he's doing fine).

Question : Is there any way to find out via taxes, filing, etc of any sort to check on the employee listing for a business. Do they HAVE to report who works there and is it viewable by the public?

I'm spinning my google wheels so far.

Ask a lawyer. The best you'll get here is some loser arm chair lawyer who thinks they know what the law. Unless of course Taylor decides to make a post.

Only if he had an employment contract and was not a direct employee under free will employment, free will employment basically means they can fire you at any time even if its a bullshit reason.

Contract law is very difficult due to the way that employment contracts are written, your friend needs to get hold of a copy of his contract and look to see whether he breached any of the employment conditions...

If not then he can sue for breach of contract.

Over here in the UK we have tribunals for this sort of thing but I don't know how it works over in the US so thats about all I can say really.

He was contracted, but I don't know the specifics blah blah.

He just wanted to see if he could get a staff list so he could find who replaced him, then sue corporate over the the new employee, his firing, and his contract. Basically trying to build a case until he has time to sit down with a lawyer who may cost him an arm and a leg.

A real "got you by the balls" thing.

Anywho, the company is public, with stock and everything, so I don't know what the laws are about releasing even WHO works at a certain location, etc. I know govt jobs do ask, ie, my job. I'm a google away from knowing where I'm employed.
