free samsung i700, is it worth it?

I am pretty sure I want a pocket pc phone, and I don't want to blow $500 on it. I'm on cingular now and happy with it (out of contract). And I have a verizon wireless EV-DO card for my laptop. I find that I take the laptop everywhere, it's heavy and bulky etc. When I'm out and about I use it for web/email, gps, and ocasionally im. I'm pretty sure a pda phone would do all I need most of the time, but I'm not sure which way to go. All of my friends and family are on cingular, so I only use 200 minutes of non p2p but that would go up if I switched. Since I have a data contract with vzw and all my calls are cingular I am pretty much choosing between those two. I can renew cingular and get an 8125 for $200, but that doesn't have sdio or gps built in.

I can get the samsung for verizon for $100 with a $100 rebate, but it is an older phone... I was hoping someone here could tell me if the i700 would be enough to do what I want or will I just be dissapointed?

so to sum it up
ppc pda on cingular or verizon
must do gps, web, email, play mp3
phone can't be too horrible
trying to stay under $300

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I was looking at the 8125 but it's $200-$300 and doesn't have sdio for a gps... It would limit me to a bluetooth gps which is one more thing to charge, and a bigger item to stick in a pocket. I was also looking at the hp ipaq 6515 wondering if the price will come down when the 6900 comes out. But I've heard most games don't like the square screen. Same reason I am nervous about the treo.

+$350 Cingular 8125
-$50 rebate
-$100 loyalty credit to account
=$200 phone new in box
+$100 screen protectors, good case/belt clip, car mounting kit from boxwave
+$20 charging/sync cradle
+$100 bluetooth gps reciever (sirf III)
+$60 2gb minisd card
=$480

That's why I was looking for something that started out cheaper or had more of the features I wanted integrated... if I dropped the high end case (there's a cheap one that came with it) the car mount, and only got one screen protector I'm still about $100 over budget...

If it doesn't have at least a gig it's just an ugly phone... I am a heavy gps user, and if it won't store enough maps to get me where I'm going I don't need it. I ended up getting the 2gb card for $51 on ebay, I don't think I would have saved much trying to get something smaller anyway.
