Looks like AMC American Movie Classic Channel 293 SD is having a free preview until December 31, 2009.
 
My guess is since May 1st is on a weekend the May free previews will probably not start until Monday May 3rd. This is probably because the people who decide this and actually add the free preview channels don't work weekends.

I wonder what triggers the free preview for a year?
 
Looks like Showcase HD and National Geographic HD are also free this weekend.

You are right, would be nice for Bell TV to announce the previews in advance... at least on their info channels or on our bill. Too much to ask.
 
This is not uncommon. The time shifted SD and HD US nets are now split into separate packages that cost $1 each.
 
I talked to Bell CSR yesterday and asked them if I could have 1 month free of Setanta to try it out, but he said that the system did not let him to do it.

Have any of you tried this and got the free preview? If yes, how did you go about it?

Does anyone have more details about this "More HD Variety" pack thing? do all customers get it, or who are the ones that qualify?
Also, I already have "More HD Variety", but not "HD Variety". If i was to change it so i get HD Variety and not not the More.., would they give me "More.." free too :)
 
Well first off it's the FIFA World Cup, not UEFA. Secondly it's on CBC (and Bold), so what's that got to do with TSN?

The ONLY place bell reliably provides this info is at the top of your bill where they announce promotions and previews. Channel 230 occasionally lists lineup changes and channel previews but hasn't listed anything lately.

My only other suggestion besides checking back on this site for general channel launch announcements that usually always show up here eventually is to just check your EPG and look for channels with (INFO) in the programming description.

There is NO one website from Bell that specifically lists free preview channels like what you're looking for unfortunately.
 
how come 285 is still showing, i thought the free preview was ending on the 30th of april?
 
I remember watching euro 2004, world cup 2006, eurocup 2008 on TSN via bell. looks like CBC paid a higher bid to secure world cup 2010 in Canada. :cool:
 
NHL Centre Ice is having a Free Preview starting today Dec 7th and going until Dec 13th.
 
I just read on the CBC crawl that BOLD HD was on freeview for BellTV, but I can't find it anywhere.
Even regular Bold isn't on freeview.
 
Has anybody seen and June free previews channel 271 is still showing zeste tv for May this free preview lasts until July 22nd.
 
I have no idea. It just showed up on my guide. When I called to ask why and tell them I never ordered it and wasn't going to PAY for it, the CSR told me about the promotion. I have a funny feeling that the other shoe might be about to drop though. Bell isn't renowned for giving existing customers something for nothing, and this one really doesn't make much sense to me, unless they have a plan.

Maybe there's some new HD channels coming and this way they are re-jigging their theme packs in order to create more.

As for who are the qualifying customers? Like he told me..."subscribers with the 4 for $10 package, if it doesn't include 'More HD Variety'".
 
There's no HD Deutsche Welle, is there? However, all their programming is wide screen. HD in Germany and Europe even is lagging behind North America.
