Has anybody seen 'jeaux de enfants'? I've seen the trailer a few times, but never bit the bullet and gone out to see the movie. I don't know French(don't know any language, really) and I think the subtitles would distract me. Is it hard to follow?

.....a couple of day i saw 'bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bomsping' (spring, summer, fall, winter and spring)....a nice, quiet type of movie with the tenets of buddhism as it's central theme....beautifully filmed in korea (ABOUT THE SET...The hermitage that is the stage for SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, WINTER... AND SPRING is an artificially constructed set made to float on top of Jusan Pond in North Kyungsang Province in Korea. Created about 200 years ago, Jusan Pond is an artificial lake in which the surrounding mountains are reflected in its waters. It retains the mystical aura of having trees more than hundreds of years old still growing within its water. LJ Film was able to obtain permission to build the set after finally convincing the Ministry of Environment through six months of negotiations.

In writer/director Kim Ki-duk's pastoral portrait of life, a tiny
Buddhist monastery floats on a raft in a forest pond. Five segments
representing stages in a man's life are shown: Innocence, Love, Evil,
Enlightenment and Rebirth. Under the vigilant eyes of Old Monk (Oh
Young-soo), Child Monk (Kim Jong-ho) learns a lesson about sorrow
when his games turn cruel. In the intense lushness of summer, the
monk, now a young man, experiences lust, leading to additional
suffering. With winter, he atones for his deeds, and spring begins
the cycle anew.

Goodbye Lenin! was terrific!

VISITOR Q is a must-see!

Going to see Intermission tonight.

I am from Portugal.
Maybe "Machuca" will be released here in the near future.

Tomorrow, this brazilian movie will be released: O Homem que Copiava. That makes 3 brazilian movies that are in cinema theaters right now in Portugal.

where are you from??¿....those are good news for me...i love that latin films are getting publicity out there you know...so sory for Chile...but if you are interested you can download them....believe in me..."Machuca" ....very good stuff....

jajajaj...for a moment i really though you were from Chile...
Osorno yes....it's a southern city, very beatiful...

Ok...about the cake, it's called kuchen, you can do it with apples, strawberrys, and basicly anything you want...but it is not original from Chile...i think it's from Germany, or a country like that....
If you really wanna try something from my country, you should make Cacuela or empanadas de pino...those are very good....

I'm gonna have to check that one...it sounds amaizing....plus I love italian films, their my favs...;)

lol.gif
i love that. and i am the same way, i have no trouble watching a movie with subtitles at all.

some of my favorites are : Lola Rennt (German), Der Krieger und die Kaiserin (also German),

Actually, in my country, latin movies are being released all the time. "The Motorcycle Diaries" was just released last week.
However, I can't remeber of ever seeing a movie from Chile released here. Mostly, the latin movies that get released here are from Mexico, Argentina or Brasil.

Gael Garcia Bernal is the cuttest actor ever. I loved him in "Amores Perros". :)

mmmmm....what about Pedro Almodovar ...c'mon....he's one of the greatest spanish directors of all time!!!:...."Todos sobre mi madre, Hable con Ella, Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios, Atame...." and the list goes on and on and on!!!!......

And what about Amenabar ...."Tesis, Abre los OJos, The Others...... and his latest movie is Mar adentro , about a man who cant move from the neck down, and ask his family to kill him (euthanasia if you prefer...).

About italian movies...c'mon!!!:....what about Cinema Paradiso, Malena...., all of the Fellini movies, Mastroiani, Zeffirelli!!!!!....you HAVE to see the old films, if you dont....c'mon!!!!...you dont know nothing about the new ones!!

And about latin films...mexico is not the only country down here you know....there's Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia...we have great movies too.....for example....
CHILE :
-Machuca...this is a film you have to see, is about Pinochet (you know who that is....right?)
-Coronación...this is an old movie...a little boring but very good...
-Chacotero sentimental...this is divided in 3 storys, and its about this radio guy who give advices to people, very good...
-Taxi para tres....this film even won the Concha de Oro, in the "San Sebastian" movie festival, in Spain.
-Promedio Rojo...this is one of the latest....it's about life in highschool, but from the point of view of latin people of course...

ARGENTINA :
-El hijo de la novia.
-Alma

OTHER LATIN MOVIES :
-Pantaleón y las visitadoras
-Carne Tremula (Spain)
-El dia de la bestia (Spain)
-Mala Educación (The latest from Almodovar)
-I love you baby (Spain)
-Cha Cha Cha (Spain)
-Ciudad de Dios (Brazil)
-Todo sobre mi madre (Almodovar)

Hello,

I was surprised not to find a Foreign Films thread, so I thought I would start one.

I think it would be great if people could recommend and discuss foreign films. I haven't seen that many myself, but I am definitely interested in hearing what others have to say!
