For or Against Gay Marriage

I wouldn't have used it to support gay marriage. In my reading there is nothing in the Bible to support gay marriage. I am merely pointing out that there is also nothing in the Bible that supports your using it as a tool to judge or discriminate. There is also nothing in it that supports your attempting this ban. This ban isn't about God or faith. Either you have faith or you don't. Forcing adhearance to the Bible's rules by others is Un-American and Un-Christian. Gay marriage won't hurt a thing. All this rhetoric is nothing more than pure prejudice. Gays are no more sinful than you. Shall we deny you rights for your sins? That is not the way to run a free society.

Whether or not to have a relationship with God is a personal choice. If you don't do it on your own and from your heart - any action is meaningless. In addition to this - all Christians are responsible for their own study - whether they do so on their own or with guidance. In the end we are all urged to study the Bible. The Bible tells you stay away from what will make you falter. It tells you speak of your faith. It also tells you to walk away from those who don't share it. It never justifies condemnation or harm.

Supporting banning of gay marriage or other types of discrimination against gays won't help God, your faith or anyone else's. You wish to legalize discrimination. That is ugly. And there is no excuse for it. Period.

I think we have a small document in this country that has served us well for over 200 years; it's called The Constitution. If you were in the service, you also took an oath, I believe....... As for how you judge me as a member of the RCC, that is your business, to spew any ugliness you choosetowarRAB me, but I hope you own stock in Johnson & Johnson; you'll need alot of Windex for that glass house you live in. :xangel:

I voted yes because I'm bi and not in the closet anymore for the most part. I don't want to have to go back into the closet for the basic rights straight people automatically get.

When 90 percent of this forum is left wing out of work Liberals it is not a surprise that polls don't go the Conservative way.........

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” — Theodore Roosevelt.

We all feel that way at times, depending on who's in office.

And you are not employing a bias ? Step out of your Ward and June Cleaver world, and see the number of straight single parent homes we have. You've never have worked with foster-care children, so you have no idea of how we welcome new people to the program, no matter their sexual orientation.

Well it all depenRAB on the father....there are those that can be done without. But male (or female) role models and mentors don't have to be parents. A straight married couple simply makes it handy. But if the marriage is bad or one of the parents is a loser....

Anyway, my son has an awesome father - and it isn't the sperm donor.

I have been raising my son with a gay man for the last three years - and I would not trade him for a million straight men - even good ones. I simply could not ask for a better role model and father for my son. He is the best man I have ever known. Period.

Nurglitch;

Because they have nothing better to do with their time. They could be busy working for equality for all, and trying to understand the issues in their totality. It's really a shame they donot appreciate the fact that if one sector of our society does not have their rights guaranteed under the Constitution, that their rights could be the next to be imperiled.

Burden of proof is not on me. He said this nation was founded on Christian values. It was not. I merely giving one man's idea. Anyway, just because the man didn't believe in it doesn't mean he couldn't be tolerant of it.

so what you are saying is that I shouldn't be allowed to choose who my family is? Unless you decide for me? Or who I should love and wish to protect unless it falls under your limited scope. The sad thing is you can't see your bigotry. You wish to control my life by difining my choices in a way that does not touch on your life.

Gee! Is that all it takes? You mean I could commit fraud, become a child molester, kill a few people, rob a few banks and still be treated as normal as long as I support the ban?

I think you need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new plan.

In these times, telling falsehooRAB and believeing them is not a trait exclusive to "the liberals." Who can intelligently honestly deny that?

But speaking of truths Mr. Hunter, tell me this....
Do you believe the following to be truths?
1. A man, a human being, can be undeniably, clinicallly dead for days and then return back to life?
2. Do you believe that the seas can defy every law of physics known to man and suddenly divide itself to allow a culture of slaves to escape their land to another across the sea?
3. Do you believe that one can cast out "demons" (or mental illness) in a person and then transfer their presence into herd of swine that runs themselves over a cliff?
4. Do you believe that it is possible to rub mud into a blind mans eyes and restore his vision?
5. Do you believe that a human form can walk on water?
6. Do you believe that someone can transform a barrel of water into a barrel of wine in a matter of a split second?

I suspect we already know your answers. Can you feasibly understand why so many posters on this site question your credibility when it comes to "truths?" Who in their right mind could possibly follow such obvious myth and superstition?

Honestly sir, listening to some of those people trying to make their case for religion using the Bible as their source material reminRAB me personally of watching two Trekkies battle as to who is smarter. Captain Kirk or Mr. Spock using Star Trek Episode #49 as their source of information. Or who is the most dangerous? The Big Bad Wolf in the Red Riding story or the one in The Three Little Pigs. It matters not. The characters are fictional and the source of information is fiction as well.

People of logic and reason and science do have a tendancy to get impatient with those of faith especially when the faithful start to hurl the insults because they are not able to debate with reason and logic. Then the insults are hurled back and before you know it everybody is screaming at each other. Religion is no friend of peace and tranquility.
