For or Against Gay Marriage

I have no problem with others pursuing their happiness. I'm just not willing to call a dog a cat in order to appease some group that isn't happy being a dog. (If you don't get the metaphor, I'm speaking about the term "marriage")

Voice Of Reason said:
There is no question....There are exceptions to every rule...........I still think it better to have a mother and father............

But, why ? Especially if someone wants to take on the responsibility of raising children that do fit in the " unwanted " category; why should they go from foster-home to foster-home, never feeling that sense of "belonging?"

I was trying to show how that looks when held up to that first sentence of section 2 that you quoted. If that's constitutional, then one states almost complete disregard for another state's gay marriage laws will also be constitutional.

Oh yes, I'd say it will happen - our society is deteriorating. The longer it takes the better, hopefully I'll be outa here and in a better place when it does.

I agree for the most part. But who determines what are rights? If they're not clearly listed in the constitution, let our system work.

"Christians can't vote for Anyone who sopports this policy."
"Christians don't listen to rap."
"Liberals all doomed to hell."
"Homosexuals won't be saved."

You make comments like the above all the time. They aren't expressed as opinions and they are insulting.

You have no idea how pleased I am that you know this. Next step: You also do not get to tell people what their faith is - regardless of their politics or music choices. Once you comprehend that maybe we can move on to how you really should stop speaking for God.

You quoted it out of context and missapplied the quote - and have YET to address the point I made.

There you go again. Stop this. Repeat after me: "Having a different life experience and/or opinion than myself does not make somebody else immoral or stupid." You must learn to accept that we aren't all like you. And that is OK.

I am never more chilled than on a Wednesday morning.

A) Homosexuals are citizens and deserve the same rights as everyone else.
B) If church's do not want to perform ceremonies, that is their right, but a civil union should not be outlawed based on religious beliefs.
C) How exactly do homosexuals "weaken the family unit"? That is an absurd notion. I know many gay couples who have adopted children and are loving parents. They are "family" units!
D) Homosexuals do not have a "choice" to behave other than within their GOD given nature. They cannot "choose" to become straight. That is a stupid notion.
can a person "choose" to be intelligent?
E) If God made homosexuals, He must think they're ok. If He didn't where do you think they came from? Why can they "love"? Isn't Love a gift from God?
Why is their homosexuality in nature (among all animals) if it's so "unnatural"?
F) People who use the bible to spew hatred are most un-Christian, bigoted, and vile. All kinRAB of evil people quote from scripture verses to support their own agendas. It means nothing.

That's a myth. Animals may engage in homosexual activities, but to call them homosexual is to engage in anthropomorphism.

The same could be said about pediophiles.

If we truly inseparable from our genetic make-up then explain how a homosexual gene is genetically transferred from two heterosexual parents.

Trying to stand on both sides of the pasture while straddling the fence is hazardous to us real males. ;)

If I wasn't being asked to subsidize their marriage, there might not be an issue with your argument. But once you decide that they should ALSO get some of my money in the form of tax breaks, no inheritance taxes, Social Security benefits, etc., , I get to have a say.

They can't but if Gays get marriage rights then under the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment so should a brother and sister...........

It allows the couple, gay or straight, to take responsibility for one another, even after the relationship breaks up or one dies. What kind of "pulling out" of money are you objecting to?

Can't we reward gay and lesbian couples with children? Who cares if they didn't breed themselves, or used an alternative method? Surely there is more to what makes a family than this.

I am not talking about national polls. I am referring to those in Massachusetts. The politicians here cannot run away from that amendment fast enough.

You assume way too much. Currently the populace is pretty ****** at the church for the sex abuse scandals. And many of the catholics here are pro-gay marriage.

Well, I live here in MA, so I am pretty familiar with the climate here. Banning civil unions definitely will not fly here. And any amendment has to get by the legislature. Good luck to you.

The way it looks now, MA is the only state that currently DOES allow same-sex marriage ... or more accurately, does not discriminate by gender in relation to marriage

Holier than thou ? I was mentioning their service, because many were conscripts, and many were not. And it was not until the movie "Saving Private Ryan", and the book, "The Greatest Generation" came out did many of the vets speak of their service. I learned of an uncle's part in the invasion of Normandy, only after the movie. Now with Robert J. Dole opening the WW II monument, with the aid of Tom Hanks, and Steven Spielberg are many vets first starting to speak of their service. Sadly, they are dying at a rate of 1,000 a day, but their service was noble, and I only mentioned it because of yeaterday being the anniversary, and the day the war was turned around in the favor of the Allied Forces.

Mentioning that they served all Americans is nothing but the truth, no matter how much you don't care for the truth.

BTW, He was a Plankowner on the U.S.S. Henrico. Look up the service of that ship and it's shipmates.

I think there was a thread here about the USA and whether or not it is a Christian nation. What it boils down to (and what most people mean by it) is that the US is a nation that is mostly Christian.

Besides, ask the other countries what the only country in the world that is a Christian nation and they would say the USA. Officially we aren't, but the label is well-placed, imo... like it or not.

For a long time I couldn't understand what the big deal was, but now, after a few years of further study on the matter, I can see why people deny that we are, and how religion has taken its toll on the people of this and other countries - all in the name of Christ.

Maybe his God is above your petty politics of labels. Why don't you let that God worry about whether or not gay people are feeling good and doing it, if that does worry God. Why does it need to concern you?

Meaningless. Much like how the right wing uses the term "politically correct" to attempt to discredit anything they don't agree with.

Love your compassion. It's all about the costs of treating people with diseases. Really warms my heart.

So why are you against gay marriage? It doesn't impact you or your family.

Does that include the right to not have to pay equal taxes?

What is the gay lifestyle? I know many gay people, and they seem to have many different lifestyles. You haven't supported your claim that gay people have a lower average life expectancy. Even if you could support that, we don't base rights on that. You are like the Ku Klux Klan who schreech that blacks are the ones spreading AIRAB.

Nobody is trying to limit your rights.

You should have the rights and privileges extended to married couples, but you don't have the right to redefine the meaning of marriage just to suit your purposes.

You have over 1800 posts here, and if you had been banned, our path's would never have crossed.

I'll bet the late former Senator Barry Goldwater loved his gay granRABon; heck he even voted for Clinton. You're too young to remember the Senator Barry Goldwater I remember.

I'll bet Newt Gingrich loves his lesbian sister, also. And Newtie married Steve Gundersen's former aide; Steve Gundersen isalso a GOPer and Gay.

Then there's the big fish; Dick Cheney who I am sure he loves his lesbian daughter.

Oh, I forgot; Jim Kolbe R. Ariz., and he too, is gay.

There are quite a few more, but they are not out of the closet, and I will not be complicit in ending their careers, like Bob Dornan did to Steve Gundersen.

Let us not forget the members of The Log Cabin Republicans; GOPers all, and also Gay.

I saw your Governor on the news today and he disputes your figures........He said in the latest polls 50 percent were against and 34 percent were for gay marriage..................

So I guess its who you believe..........As far as Catholics being ****** at the priest thing I think most Catholics realize that only about 1 percent of the total priests are gay pedophiles.........
