There's always a line. That line is where one person's actions infringe on another's liberty. Two people getting married is our standard for marriage and we (the govt.) offers benefits to people who do this therefore it must be open to the all.

So you say. I'm asking you why you think that a straight male father figure is preferable to a gay male father figure.
Personally I can't speak for most lesbians, seeing as I don't know them personally and haven't conducted a legitimate poll of them. I also don't know how Mary Cheney acts, because I don't know her familiarly either. Mind you, each and every one of the lesbians I do know are extremely vocal when someone makes an issue out of their sexuality - such as when someone tells them that they're sinners, or that they aren't the ideal parent for their own child, or that proper women have long hair and don't speak up in public. Actually, that covers all women that I know, and not just the lesbians.
 
Are you telling me liberals have jobs? You sure can't tell it by all the anti military/war protests, the flag burnings, you saw prior to the start of the war and by all the libs that post here 24/7........They are either unemployed or 12 year old kiRAB out of school for summer vacation..........
 
Frankly, NO, you can't.

Rights, by the very nature of the term necessarily implies that the "right" is applicable to all who meet the criteria.

One cannot, for example extend the franchise to 18-year old citizen Latinos in the USA without extending it to all 18-year olRAB.

Otherwise, that which you deem a "right" is merely a privilege.
 
There happen to be members of the GLBT Community who have given their lives in this "War for Democracy in Iraq". They are good enough to fight and die, but not good enough to be recognized for benefits straights take for granted ? How can Bush pass a law against gays? He has one vote just like you and me. If we are truly "in modern times" now, then why did 19 states just pass legislation banning gay marriage? Or maybe the majority of Americans don't agree with your definition of "modern". :confused:
 
There are a lot of in this country who believe that same sex marriage is just as oddball as the ones I mentioned

Its funny how my friend want the government out of marriage but when it comes to abortion they love the government involved.......... :rolleyes:

While your definitions are correct, we ARE a nation claiming that we support the rights of the people, while we also depend on religion. Now, I have no idea where what I just said falls into this debate, but if you think it means something, and want to argue it...
 
Marriage is not in the bill of rights (yet). What is in the bill of rights is the full faith and credit clause which requires states to recognize each other's laws. So..If one state marry's someone, other states are required by the clause to recognize them.

What I am trying to get through your amazingly thick skull is that your stats are really high level. Timing is a big one. WHY is timing an issue. Just because she doesn't like May? No - there are reasons why the timing might be bad - job, school, really freakin broke at that moment, homeless at that moment - a whole lot of things could explain WHY the timing is bad.

1. To compare African Americans a minority to Gays a class does not wash and a lot of African Americans are offended at gays doing that.........

2. Why should they..........Marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman........It is a legal as well at a religeous matter.......I can guareentee tou one thing if you continue to push the issue you will lose support for civil unions too......

3. See number 1...........again it is a spcial right that is against the teachings of religion and if you allow it you have to make allowances for all kind of other perverse unions........
 
That is your opinion.............Mine is you have 3 classes of people in the USA.........Conservatives (about 40 percent of the population) Moderates (about 50 percent of the population) and Liberals (about 10 percent of the population but the loudest of the groups)
 
So some how letting gays and lesbians marry will stop herteros from having children? Isn't this whatt is considered one of those stawman arguements?
