I have to buy a head unit for my car audio system, i already have a sony mp3 player, should i just plug that mp3 player via auxiliary port to the head unit, this will save me money. Other wise i can buy a usb player that can plug in my mp3 player and use it as a memory device.

I know both ways will work, but i wanted to get advice on sound quality, which will have better sound quality? the mp3 player has good sound quality but very low sound, if the auxiliary port does not amplify the sound than that would be very bad, where as in the usb mode the player will process the sound itself and amplify it, please advice if i can get same quality from auxilary port via an external mp3 player(which plays at low volume) in comparison to a usb head unit.

both options have the same quality of sound and it also depends on the quality of song u download if u download from limewire some songs are very low when playing as compared to cd quality of itunes

a usb would probably be a more permanent option but the aux would be a quick in and out thing, but as previously mentioned same quality just depends on the bit rate of the song you've downloaded
