Flashing symbols and coloured rectangles on laptop boot up?

Looking for help here. The other day the E button on my laptop mysteriously stopped working and the laptop begun to hang when i clicked on buttons or links. I restarted the computer many times and the express recovery media page kept coming up. Sometimes i could by bass it to the log in page other times it just couldn't get passed it!

Since then i have reformatted the computer and restored the laptop back to factory settings and everything was working fine until the E button stopped working again and then on restarting the computer i was shocked to see a full screen of flashing symbols and coloured rectangles on laptop during the boot up.

I don't know much about computers but i am assuming this is a virus and i am assuming that since it's not part of the hard drive i am going to have some trouble getting rid of it!

More likely that some of your hardware is failing, especially memory or hard drive. You're in real bad shape if you can't even get the BIOS screen up (normally the first screen you see as you start up).

I'd also check to see if there was a spill you aren't aware of.

If your laptop is still under warranty, send it in for repair.
