First Details on Seth MacFarlane?s Fourth Show

I'm not ticked off at all. I just won't watch the show and, hey, it won't affect me in any way, right? All I really feel is pity for Seth McFarlane that, whether by FOX's demand or his own volition, he has to steep in such unoriginal, unfunny hackery.

I agree as well. Peter's early voice (at least to me) had an Archie Bunker quality to it that Seth eventually adapted into something a bit more unique. Like I said earlier, Stewie had no range outside of the angry Bond villain voice, while Brian was just dry and sarcastic all the time. I'm glad these character's personalities have been allowed to grow somewhat. And it's tough to listen to Seth Green's original voice for Chris. His current voice has a lot more life in it. And Lois' nasally voice fits her character better.

I listen to the first season and it just doesn't feel like Family Guy to me.

If he really cared about doing something different, then he would've done something about it, and not give in to FOX, and if he did, then he obviously cares more about money than putting on a good show. Plus, this is just a "what if". Who knows, Seth could actually be lacking creativity.

It is a bit too early to over-react since we don't have the full details. Plus, American Dad and Cleveland Show are both good despite the similar formula. However, this does smell of over-saturation and that never leads to anything good. If they cancel American Dad in favor of the new show then it might work, but if all four shows run at once then it could be a mistake. I'm not saying that The Simpsons will be cancelled, but they could move American Dad to 7:30pm.

If FOX really is behind making this third show another animated family sitcom would Seth be allowed to say that it is their hand coming into play and get some form of punishment for spilling possible beans?

That's the way the world works. You wanna keep making money? Ya gotta play ball and do what your bosses want. Either way, I'm sure Seth is laughing all the way to the bank regardless.

Seth could do something different. But why risk it if a sure thing keeps money in your pocket? Can't say I disagree with that.

Well, this probably won't get me back to watching FOX on Sunday nights (or FOX at all for that matter), but good for Seth. He found a winning formula and cashed in big on it.

I could definitely see them phasing out the Simpsons in the next few years and make the whole block full of Seth shows. I don't see why that angers so many people, though. If you don't like Seth or current Simpsons, why are you even watching FOX at all now, anyway? If these shows weren't there, it's not like there would be other animated shows to take their place. FOX is looking for the next Simpsons, not the next hit animated show.

As much as I miss the old King Of The Hill/Futurama/Simpsons/Family Guy FOX, that's long gone and it isn't coming back, guys. If that's what you're hoping for, you might as well just move on.

Season 1 was pretty bad, in all honesty. It's horribly scattershot with bad jokes, bad execution, and pretty generic all over. Season 2 is pretty straightforward, which is probably why I like it, but I still think season 3 is the best thing to come out of Family Guy. I see that style more in American Dad now, so that's why I tend to watch that instead. But, I watch them on Adult Swim now. :p

Season one was just seven episodes. And it was there to set the stage. So, there's nothing to hate. Seasons two, three and four were brilliant. It was season five when things started to slowly fall apart.

When Matt Groening and Mike Judge made subsequent shows, they were nothing like The Simpsons or Beavis and Butt-head.

Apparently, creativity isn't this guy's strong suit.

I enjoy Family Guy and American Dad by Seth. I tried watching the Cleveland Show this fall but I didn't like it. Of course I was never a fan of Cleveland anyways except for his bathtub gags. When Seth announced he would have a fourth show I was thinking or hoping that it would be about talking animals. Not just one but a whole cast.

This makes me wonder though what will happen to FOX Sundays. My guess is they will air The Simpsons- 8pm, American Dad- 8:30pm, Family Guy- 9pm and The Cleveland Show (Fall) / New Seth Show (Midseason)- 9:30pm.

That's obviously true, but many artists (be it music, animation, books) actually go against what their boss is saying, because they care about their fans getting what they deserve, a good story.

What I'm trying to say is Seth lacks imagination and guts to do something different, and in result he churns out generic garbage.

If I was making as much money as Set MacFarlane I'd stay the course and keep filling my wallet. Why be different and be a hero when the "safe" shows you're already producing are making you one of the richest people in TV today? Especially how often FOX craps all over anything different?

How do you know the problem is that he specifically lacks imagination and guts? I'd say he's got plenty of both. And "generic garbage" huh? Whatever.

Yeah, pretty much. You can tell the difference between each season's episodes.

But then, there are few season 1's of any show that I really like a lot. A great first season is a hard thing to nail.

The first season of Family Guy was ok but not as good as seasons that followed. The reason I liked Family Guy more before it got cancelled was because the show seemed more funny and seemed done better. The newer Family Guy episodes have some funny moments but it's gotten more stupid since it was renewed.

Hopefully the new show has some different style characters and doesn't have a talking animal at least.

So basically you're saying you'd rather him submit to FOX and produce whatever they want? (Which usually lacks anything creative)

All I'm saying which is he doesn't care, which you agree with. Why are you a fan of him then? He doesn't care about his fans.

His shows make me laugh. That's all I ask for. I don't care if they're similar, or unoriginal. I watch his stuff because - gasp - I laugh at it. That's all. If this new show makes me laugh too I'll have no problem with it.

I really don't care if he doesn't care about his fans. As long as his shows continue to make me laugh.
