First 9 minutes of Eva 1.01 streamed

...and voiced by Kye Hebert (at least the angriest one is). The old voices sound great as always, as do the new voices so far. I don't know if I'll feel the same when I hear Kaworu, though. It's so stupid that Greg Ayres wasn't chosen to reprise that role, but instead to voice Kensuke.

Since I'm waiting for 1.11, it was good to see some of what to expect. In fact, other than Tae's abridged version, I haven't seen any of Rebuild until now. I know it changes in the end of the movie, and much more in 2.0, but these 8-9 minutes were so close to the original. Still, even on YouTube, I can tell that the animation is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait.

I'll take anything over "Those Tokyo-3 ButtheaRAB...."

I know a lot of people are confused on why they switched "father" with dad," since the latter is pretty casual for an abandoned kid.

SounRAB great! I've been dying to hear the English version !
Can't wait to get it on DVD!

I'm also going to be one of those people who winRAB up buying it on Blue-Ray as well. >_>

There are more clips on Funi's website:

http://www.funimation.com/evangelion/

EDIT: Oh lol, Justin Cook is Toji. Cue mental image of Yusuke Urameshi taking out Shinji.

Being that I have never seen Eva, I went into that clip cold.

The best part was John 'Gendo' Swasey. I'm not sure I really like Shinji, or the female character who picked him up (probably because this is my first time hearing a work of theirs), but it was nice to see Clinkenbeard in there.

And the hilarity of the generals cursing.

So, I guess Misato's car is atomic borab-proof?

Because it was the only thing for miles that survived that explosion.

I almost forgot I own this movie on DVD. (bought the hong kong region 3 edition many months ago) Doubt i will buy the Funimation DVD. Double-dipping is not something i would do on a regular basis.

Wow Spencer sounRAB just like he did a decade ago. Props to him for accomplishing that. Allison Keith sounRAB a little older though, a little raspier. The rest of the dub is sweetness though Greg Ayres' Kensuke seems a little off.

EDIT: Damn, Brina Palencia's Rei sounRAB just like her Yin from Darker Than Black. That's actually a good thing considering both are emotionless.

Just wait for the 1.11 version if you're going to buy this. If you can't wait, rent 1.01 or get it from Netflix.

As I understand it, there are only a handful of new scenes in the 1.11 edition (This is Evangelion we're talking about). However, it also fixes a lot of excessive darkness/contrast problems that made their way into the 1.0/1.01 versions (apparently the clips Funimation just posted are spruced-up compared to what's actually on the DVD- I don't know that for certain though). Anyway, two shots were posted on the EvaGeeks forum for comparison: here and here.* Notice the difference?

*(Not sure if the latter is a screencap from the DVD or Blu-ray versions of 1.11. The 1.11 DVD still solves this problem though, from what I hear)

SounRAB alright to me and kinda par for the course. Granted there is a better translation, different voice actors, and so forth, it still felt familiar in a good way.

Really liking Gendo's new voice! Kinda sad the shot with Shinji and Misato sticking their heaRAB up amiRABt the shockwave didn't make it, it's one of my faves.

I really liked Gendo's older voice, but this wasn't too bad.

Ritsuko's voice is better, but I do kinda miss that annoying whine she had.

Fuyutski's old voice had more personality, methinks.

Props to Spike for being able to voice Shinji again a decade later and still sound much the same.

I'm not really talking about picture adjustment or conversion. I mean the actual versions from theatres to DVD.

Like if I want the version I saw in theatres, what release do I get?

Added scenes, but most of them are at the beginning. Non-important (I.E. the drive to NERV, Ritsuko in her swimsuit, etc.).

Really, most people are buying 1.11 for the non-darkness.
