Finding Anime Names & General Anime Q&A

Few days ago i posted the message below in chit chat forum which was locked-not sure why. Probably i should havea sked this question here. Anyways, can anyone help with that?

As a kid I used to watch a japanese anime tv series (mid 80s) which was about ancient japanese fairy tales brought to screen. All I remember was a very characteristic opening theme showing a small kid riding an oriental dragon in a black(?) background.

I loved this series as a kid and I have been trying to locate it for a long time. Does anyone knows of what i am talking about?
Any help appreciated
 
There are different anime series based on popular Asian legends or fairy tales (and sometimes Western, too).

It could be:

Manga Nihon mukashi banashi, Kikaku Canter, 1975

Manga sekai mukashi banashi,Dax International, 1976
 
Can anyone tell me who this is or what series they are from? I've asked like a million people. I know its not a random drawing, because the person who sent it to me 2 years ago (which I forget who it was now) told me what show it was from.

Maybe it is wicked city.The girl is from the world of monsters the hero falls in love with her .They are assigned to protect this very old short guy from the monsters & in one scene she is caught by them the scene you described.
 
Hiya Guys, ok i've been searching for a while now and i'm tearing my hair out trying to fintd the name of this anime film i saw when i was a kid, i only have vague memories of it but i know that it starts off with this kid who comes accross this warrior kind of guy, me talks to him but the warrior dies the kid notice this device on the guys hand, i think i remember it bein silver with a blue circular crystal in the middle. anyway after noticing this there is this beautiful scene in which the device attaches it self to the kid, i can't remember much else but i think i also remember this device could be used as a weapon. please guys i'm on my last legs here i need ur help
 
That's an easy one. It's called Lensman.



I watched myself when I was a kid on the SciFi channel. It aired as a part of a weekend long marathon called the Rising Sun Marathon. This was about 95-96.

It's only availible on VHS, and is out of print. Your best bet would be ebay.

OK, I was browsing around on another forum, and someone had this image as their avatar. Which anime is this from?? I don't recognise the character from anywhere. Can y'all help me out?

does anyone know what the anime is called with one of the characters wearing a top hat and i think he travels around to different places in a van sorry if i didn't give enough details but thats all i can think of at the moment so if you think you know what this anime might be please reply back thx
 
My question isn't like "what is this series called" my question is:

How well are the Gravitation volumes selling? (US)

I ask because I am a big fan of M X M relationship series like this and I hope with good sales they would liscense more of these types of anime. *crosses fingers*

Just something that has been in the back of my brain for awhile What is the plural for "anime?" I've always thought that it is just that, anime, but I see a lot of posts on this forum that use "animes." So, which is it?

Personally, I think the correct term when talking about more than one anime series is just anime. It sounds strange to me to say "animes." Also, when I talk about more than one manga, I just say "manga" not "mangas."

What do you think?
 
I don't think anime has a plural. Anime is singular and plural at the same time, but to make it plural you have to change the words around it....

Examples:

"I got some new anime today."
"I got a whole bunch of new anime today!"

You need to put a plural word in there to make it plural. o_O

Things that don't work:

"What are some of your favorite anime?" (You need titleS to make it plural)

Singular:

"I got a new anime title today!"

Actually, when you think about it, Anime is plural. On it's own you think of more than one. Anime refers to like every single title out there. To make it singular you need to specify that you only got one like saying "a" or "one" or something. I hope I didn't turn a simple question into a lesson in English x_o
 
if you're talking about "anime" and "manga" in Japanese, well, there's no singular/plural in Japanese

if you're talking in english... I guess everybody will have a different opinion like regarding the pronunciation of the two words.

Me, personally, I will never be able to say "mangas" or "animes". Sounds awful.
 
Not all that impressed.. I originally posted those two pictures of the cels in the visual forum, and got some decent help before some mod locked it(can't remember who, and the thread is gone) .. telling me to post here.. and in over two weeks get absolutly no help at all.. and that mod wonders why I would post a visual related question, in a visual forum..

Hi, I don't suppose someone could help me and try to identify what anime this picture is from:



I admit the picture looks a tad bit suspicious, but it was someone's avatar from the gamingforce.com forums. So, they had to crop it I guess =/ Anyways, anyone able to recognize what anime this picture is from?
