Films that have made you cry, or have put a lump in your throat

Love love love Mr HollanRAB Opus One of my favourite weepy films. Others are The Crow, The Notebook, Patch Adams, Simon Birch (has this been mentioned?), Stand By Me, Titanic, loaRAB of others too but ive gone a bit braindead at the minute :D
 
OK, Here's my list:

King Kong (Peter Jackson version) - Why I cry over a massive gorilla is beyond me but I managed to hold the tears back quite well in the cinema.

My Dog Skip - I saw it with my daughter when she was young and we were both wiping our eyes at the end.

The Elephant Man - The music by Samuel Barber and the way that he slowly lays down is heart rending.

Midnight Cowboy - The bit at the end when Ratso dies. Wonderful film.

Ray - I'm shocked that no-one has mentioned this film yet. When he realises that he wasn't to blame for his brothers death. I didn't see it coming to be honest and I was so overcome, I couldn't talk to my girlfriend for the entire journey home for fear of breaking down.
 
Yes, I cried at Philadephia and Dead Poets Society too. There are way too many films to name that I've cried at, I just didn't sob uncontrollably so they were way down the list somewhere.

I've just thought of another film I sobbed buckets at most of the way through - in fact, I think from 5 minutes in - What Dreams May Come. One of my favourite films.
 
A better question for me would be what films DONT make you cry!!!!

where should i start, most war films, particularly Savin Private Ryan, Schindler's List and We Were Soldiers

Most things make me cry, I'm a very emotional person!!!
 
I always well up when watching The Shawshank redemption.
Its the bit where Brooks is freed, He is shown working in the supermarket then going home, getting dressed up and then hanging himself.
Everytime I see it I want someone to come in to the room and save him.
 
the best film ive seen is called
Black :
this is the most amazing film, in every sense of the word, that i have ever seen. it is an indian movie with english subtitles. (they also speak in english occasionally.) its taken from a true story, and is so inspirational, moving and trully stunning that itll leave you thinking of its depth.
the acting is phenomenal, it stars my favourite actor, known as the BIG B- Amitabh bachchan, and rani mukherji.
its just beautiful!

Gone With The Wind gets me everytime, and no matter how many times I see it I still cry. Mind you I cry at almost everything, so its not surprising really :o
 
Many of the ones mentioned make me cry - in particular, 'It's a Wonderfu Life' and 'ET'. Can't watch the latter without blubbing uncontrollably.

Good to get it out I suppose and films can so help
 
I must admit I cry pretty easily and most of the movies mentioned have 'set me off' at one time or another.

There are also the TV series
Little house on the prairie - I must have cried at every single episode!
Only Fools and Horses - Strangely enough I think that pathos mixed with comedy works very well. There were numerous tearful moments in OFAH - When Cassandra miscarries.... - When Del holRAB his new born baby up and makes his speech..... etc.

I'm starting to fill up now so I'd better end it here......
 
Gets me every time too. I had forgotten how sad it was at the end!!!!!
