Film 2010

It wasn't great but it wasn't rubbish either

We sound like our parents moaning at the loss of Wogan or Z Cars or at Top of the Pops on Christmas Day :D

Ok so the three stars featured were irritating beyond belief and Wossy was better at giving a serious film critique, but I watch the show to learn about films I perhaps otherwise wouldn't hear about and the show still allows me to do that. Besides which this was only ep 1 and with a few format tweaks it could work pretty well; I liked the "debating" aspect with regarRAB to Claudia and her co-star. I'll be tuning in again.

a good episode this second one I thought
Loved the back to the future montage. I just wish the bbc made a whole documentary about that film.

Might get better once everyone calms down. Winkleman in particular, at times she was positively rambling and what seemed to start off as a series of discussion points with her colleague just deteriorated into a set of random statements. I guess a live show is difficult for anyone but a base personality of serious + nerves can pull it off, ditsy + nerves can't.

However the interview if you can call it that with Carey Mulligan and pals was nothing but embarrassing.

I am a bit puzzled by those comments because Winkleman said that while she enjoyed Despicable Me after a couple of days she began to think that it was not as good as the Pixar films - and that perhaps it was a bit unfair to compare any other animation to Pixar because she loved Pixar and they are so unpredictable.

Yes, the programme could really do with a Talking Movies influence or segment to raise the quality bar by 50%. The yoof audience are well catered for with the annoying kid, who I assume was only on tape as the show went out past his bedtime:D

They need to push the discussion element more as it was the only part of the programme that completely worked. Going live to the London Film Festival must have sounded great in theory but it was woeful.

The top 5 moon scenes was mindlessly simple (crap choices by the way, ok with Truman Show but no ET, no Batman, no George Melies, no Peter Pan). Would be better with two people coming up with a top three or five (discussion element again) and then maybe a week-by-week vote on who's were best from us or claudia

still, not a bad start. just neeRAB a bit of tweaking, the kid dumping, a good quality feature each week and it could work out ok

Totally agree on both points.

I suppose some people would have complained even if the Beeb would have played it safe and kept exactly the same format.

I also liked the the Ross version and thought that he was a decent critic but it didn't always seem objective to me as it was patently obvious that he gave 'soft' reviews for films that starred guests that were upcoming on his talk show. And you can throw in the fact that his wife and half his mates are in the movie industry too.

This is a promising show, was good that Claudia toned down the makeup this week as well.

I wasn't too impressed but its probably fair to give it a few weeks to find its stride, and lose some of the unnecessary exra 3 presenters. Definitely should lose the live element as well.

I thought Claudia Winkleman was terrible ! the BBC have decimated one of my favourite shows !..it was like the Claudia Winkelman chat show ! and her egotistical roving reporters !..and her worst line was about her top saying it was older than the history of Facebook! eh ! which planet is this woman from ! This is a film show Claudia ! not a fashion show ! bring back Johnathan Ross or please please save us and bring back Barry Norman !!!

Agree ! all interviews paticullay with a so called film critic ! ..wheres the reviews ? low on content and high gabbing ! and Claudia has a degree in that ! :D
