FCC Complaint Forms on The Simpsons

Yeah that's taking it a tad to far.
You didn't?

For too long my friend.

Just because he's religious doesn't mean he speaks for all religious folk. That's what some people fail to realize about others.

That IS odd. Because Flanders and the family from Moral Oral are harsh stereotypes of Christians.

oh my god...... so stupid

"I was watching South Park a few nights ago and I noticed they bleeped out curse words which is great because I don't want language on tv. But what bothers me is that the FCC over looks the Lords name in Vain. Why are you allowing something that is no different then murder in the eyes of many? I wish the FCC covered things like this, it's showing to our childeren that it's ok to say the Lords name in Vain when in fact it is very wrong. Lots of networks say it while bleeping out regular four lettered curse words like FX, USA network."

thts just dumb

Now This one takes the cake

"Dear FCC: I am an eleven-year-old boy, soon to be 12, an on New Year's Eve had; watched the ball drop in Times Square on various channels. I don't normally stay up this late, but my Mom said I could watch TV in my bed while I was going to sleep. I turned it on to Comedy Central, and started to watch South Park. Then I ; heard all types of vulgar language, which had not been bleeped out. Even the teachers, parents, and principals were using these words. It was disturbing to me, and I'll never watch that show again. I don't think it was right for them to show that on the air, will you please email back.
Thank you FCC."

do any of you realy think a 11 year old wrote this?

In one of the complaints, they protested about showing two grown men kissing. In that case, the people complaining must be conservatives.

It seems to me that these Christian fundamentalist zealots who are offended by what they see on television suffer from what I call "False Piety." That is, they believe that their religious views are the correct ones, and everyone else is wrong and going to "The Bad Place." I wouldn't be surprised if those practicing "false piety" wound up in "The Bad Place" themselves.

As for television corrupting children, well there's obviously a consensus that no child should be banned from watching television, so I won't argue that point. Seriously though, there isn't really much on television worth watching. In fact, I stopped watching regular television plus my DirecTV once the novelty wore off. After all, why watch a network's choice of programming when you can get DVDs of whatever you want to watch whenever you want?

Back to the title of this thread, I'm surprised the FCC didn't get any complaints that the Simpsons shows people who are just plain mean.

It's one of life's greatest ironies. People who don't intend to offend someone, succeed in offending someone. Those who do seek to offend someone (PETA telling kids that their parents are horrible for eating meat), fail to do so.

Many things are overlooked infact. Here are some Disney Movies which contain negative influences to children:

Max Keeble's Big Move- Could encourage kids to start food fights.

Man Of The House- The character treats his soon to be Step Father like crap and gets no punishment. Doesn't bother me, but you think that parents would wave the red flag.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie: Lizzie fakes an illness to get out of a class field trip. Then spends time in a foreign city with a guy she doesn't know. Commits identity theft which is a crime. So why do the parents approve of this movie again?

Let's not forget the episode with Flanders staying up all night to watch stuff to see how it personally offends them, and then complain about it until everyone shares their backwards, non-religious religious views. This is exactly what they want to do. They want to make sure the world is a God fearing distopia run by callous rich people that pretend to care about them. That's what they're force fed by zealot groups. The media's the brainwashers? yeah right. At least we don't have Hell Houses scarring little kids into becoming prudish facists. People are entitled to their own opinion, as l9ong as they keep it there opinion.

I want to laugh, but I can't.

You know, when I was younger I had friends who weren't allowed to watch the Simpsons until a certain age. Have the parents tried that "crazy" idea?

These are just ridiculous. One of these people are angry because FOX lead her to believe there would be a preview for the "upcoming" Simpsons movie on TV, and there wasn't? *GASP* How horrible!

It's more like those behaviors aren't as noticable as smoking, drinking, swearing, assaulting, thus they are ignored. But sometimes the big problems do stem from smaller issues.

I can't believe there weren't more complaints about the rape jokes in Family Guy. I mean, the only complaints about rape jokes I saw was the one about "raping brown people" from the episode where Peter joins the military. Out of all the rape jokes family guy has done, that was possibly the least offensive one they've done.

You know, I do have to agree that having Brian the dog have sex with humans is pretty nasty. I don't think I'd go as far as filing an FCC complaint. But, really, beastiality is pretty gross.

So, how did they get access to these anyway? Can anyone just submit a FOIA request and get the FCC complaints for any show?

I take it back... those aren't the stupidest complaints I've ever heard. This one reguarding Taz-Mania is worse:

It was posted on Wikipedia, so I don't know how truthful it is, but come the hell on. I have known people with Down Syndrome (and various other afflictions like that) my entire life, and not one of them reminded me of the Tasmanian Devil at all. Taz is a wild animal, and natuarally, a wild animal wouldn't be able to speak English with a high diction. Just... wow. Talk about not understanding the subject matter at all.

All these FFC complaints are pathetic. I don't know if I should be amused or disgusted.

While the episode poked fun at both sides, I think it was generally more supportive of it. The Simpsons is pretty liberal, and previous episodes ("Homer's Phobia," "Three Gays of the Condo") have been gay-friendly as well.

Furthermore, gay groups such as GLAAD and AfterEllen liked the episode, whereas conservative and anti-gay groups such as the American Family Association and the Parents Television Council didn't.
