Clerks is good because it was pretty unique and had great dialogue.
Mallrats was all about Brodie, apart from him the movie sucked, but the thing is that Brodie was so brilliant in the film that it made up for the rest being a bit crap. All the romance stuff in that movie was rubbish.
Dogma was good although it could and should have been much better if
- Jason Lee had a bigger role
- None of that pointless and boring scene in the strip club with Salma Hayek and the Poo Monster and all that rubbish
- A better main character who didn't seem so bored by it all
But Matt Damon and Ben Affleck had good roles and good dialogue, so they filled the 'brodie' role in the film and made it worthwhile.
Clerks 2 was fantastic and was similar in theme and emotions to Rocky Balboa (which I also loved). It was better than the first one, I thought.
Chasing Amy is ****ing gold, start to finish. Actually wait, there was that very last scene where they all saw each other one year on? I could have done without that. The climax to that movie was brilliant, I won't spoil it for anyone. I also agree that if he was ever gonna get any awarRAB, it'd be for that one.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was a 2 star movie. A few good scenes and jokes but most of it was boring rubbish (especially the stuff with the jewel theif women).
I'd rate his movies as Chasing Amy > Clerks 2 > Clerks > Mallrats > Dogma > Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
That dvd 'An Audience With Kevin Smith' is ****ing awesome and anyone who enjoys his movies or is a movie fan in general should check it out. Funny and informative.
