Favorite villain gangs (non super villain teamups)

What are your favorite villain gangs?

What I mean by gang, is a gang of villains whose identity is being part of this gang. Not a bunch of villains who are already establish on their own and later decide to team up like the Legion Of Doom.

The ones that I liked are the ones with younger villains each with their own individual personality.

My list on what comes to mind (as always I can add some more later)

HIVE Five (Teen Titans) - based on the DC comics gang Fearsome Five. On the cartoon it was originally a gang of three called the HIVE, than later HIVE Five. While they on par with the top villains like Slade, they were fun characters, each with their own charm of evil.

Elite Flying Squarden (Blue Dragon) - like the HIVE Five, another gang of junior delegrents organised by General Lugi. All of them very egotistical people, who you love to hate. They gave Shu and the gang a run for their money in serious fights, but also provided some comic relief, like the recurring gag of Jiro calling Cynthia a old lady and her always losing her temper.

Evil Legendary Warriors (Digimon) - Frontier is the least popular Digimon series, and I agree with the senterment, but one of the bright parts was the Evil Legendary Warriors.

Gangreen Gang (Powerpuff Girls) - While not serious villains like my other choices being from a more comedy show, but watching the PPG marathon the other day, reminded how funny they were.

The Knights of Vengeance from W.I.T.C.H. The Animated Series
The last of Phobos' forces who are attempting to inflict vengeance on all those who betrayed Phobos during the war and usurped the throne from him for Elyon's rule. Each of them had their own unique power and ability, as well as their own personality and motives. They all also ended up getting their own conclusion story by the end of the series (some more happy than others) and are what more villain teams in shows should strive to be like, I'd say. Especially Raythor, he was awesome.

Team Rocket from Pokemon
Eh, what can I say, they were entertaining back in the early days of the show on how they seemed to pop up everywhere Ash went, especially in episodes that showed that they weren't totally evil and had some good in them. My major complaint is the writers never really try to develop that angle and rely on the same schtick over and over again when there's many more possibilities with their characters.

I never thought of Team Rocket, they barely meet the requirements for a gang, with 3 members. BTW, must at least have 3 members to qualify for this list. But I almost forgot they were villains, they were like part of the regular cast who happens to have disagreements with Ash and his friends. I care about them as much as I do about Ash and his friends.

Team Rocket is made up of more than just Jessie, James, and Meowth.

My favorite villian gang of course is Panther Claw (Cutie Honey)!

(Don't act like you're surprised)

You mean the original animated series? I don't know about the other series, but they were mindless robots in the original. The exact opposite of what I like about my favorite villain gangs even if they were human. Which is provide some individual personalaties and add to the story besides being mindless soulders of the villain.

It does count, but not on my list. I think there is a differnce between a villain gang that has a handful of interesting individual characters and a Villain army that after the leader, is just random soulders, for example soulder number 24, soulder number 49, etc., that is boring to me. They serve a important purpose, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't put them on this list. But you are free to do so.

I like the Gang Green Gang from the Powerpuff Girls. They had interesting members in the group and I always thought that they were funny.

Another gang I like is Team Galactic from Pok?mon Diamond and Pearl. They have interesting higher ups and they make the villain role a lot more interesting on the show.

My first choice would also have to be Team Rocket. They have had a lot of hilarious moments over the years and I still see how they're funny today. I also liked how they interact with each other, yet they have some different personality traits.

The only complaint I could think of them for the moment would for the writers to have more Team Rocket focused episodes since we only get that once in awhile. Or at least a bit more focus on James and Meowth since I feel like they haven't had as much for awhile. Jessie competes in Contests so she does have a good amount of focus.

I also liked The Gang Green Gang from PPG. They had interesting personalities, most of which were completely different from each other, and I especially liked Ace for his cool leader look and Billy for being kind of the innocent one of the gang.

So far I gotta go with Team Galactic/Ginga-Dan/Team Galaxy from Pokemon. So far in Japan they are kicking major ass. Basically I can't wait for the Dub of DP096 and 097 to come over here. They actually a threat to the anime, unlike Team Aqua and Magma.

The Granva Gang AKA the Evil Trio from Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. While they embody a lot of characteristics that would find their way into Team Rocket a couple of years later, I like them more. While Team Rocket has remained in a rut in regards to their characters, Grandis, Hanson, and Sanson evolved throughout the course of the series, from the initial antagonists to reluctant allies to the unsung heroes -- in addition to remaining hilarious comedic relief.

They also dress better, too.:D

I know it only lasted for one season, mostly due to the ridiculous time slot of 8:30 on Sunday mornings, but mad love to the Darkling Lords from Visionaries. They were:

Darkstorm
- a tyrannical yet strangely charismatic despot.
Mordred - a bootlicker and a sycophant.
Reekon - a money-grubbing merc who'd sell out his own friends for enough cash.
Lexor - a pathological liar as well as a coward.
Cindarr - a simple-minded strongman with a heart of gold. Kinda like the kid who fell in with the wrong crowd.
Cravex - an axe-wielding psychopath with a hair-trigger temper who'd attack his own side if you pissed him off, which was really easy to do.
Virulina - the conniving and opportunistic femme fatale famous for the line "I would never try to rescue one of my friends!"

To which Darkstorm replies, "That, my dear, is why you have no friends." And did I mention that most of them transformed into absurdly dangerous animals, one of which was a fire-breathing snail the size of a mini-van, I kid you not.

Those guys made that cartoon. They were way more interesting than the good guys. Watch them in action in their best episode.

In action cartoons, i think its almost a rule rather than an exception that villains steal the show. Batman, He-man, Ash and the Powerpuff Girls got nothing on The Joker, Skeletor, Team Rocket and Mojo Jojo.

I guess I'm in the minority because I was never a big fan of Mojo Jojo. He was OK in small doses, but I never got what made him so much more interesting than any of the other villains on the show. Plus, toward the later episodes of the series, he started to get SERIOUSLY overplayed. I always liked the Girls much more than Mojo.

Anyway, the get back on point, I don't really have a favorite villain team, as I've always been more into action than comedy, and with a few notable exceptions, recurring villains kind of bore me.

That, and we actually get to see Cyrus earlier and more than we did with Archie and Maxie, who only showed up in the Kyogre/Groudon battle.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Beagle Boys. Whether your a fan of the original Carl Barks version or the ones seen on Ducktales, the Beagle Boys were a great group of characters.

IMO, The villains always outshine the heroes. Goodness is boring; we already know the motivations for it.

(Cowboy Bebop is the rare exception in this case, as I've never much cared for Viscious.

New Entrys: The Apostles of the Star (Black Cat): Sure, they start losing members almost immediately after we're introduced to them. But they had a pretty cool collection of villains while they lasted.

The Forty Thieves (Aladdin & the King of Thieves): Not sure if this group counts, but I thought they were a well-done group of cutt-throats (Specifically Salude, or however you spell that.)

But they're still equally as underwritten and their true potential equally wasted. :p

And since nobody's put them here yet...
