any back to the totic in hand i would have to say THE LOST BOYS ok its not really scary but i love the film
i did see a horror film once dont know its name but in was about i evil pixies or something like that that was trayed inside a bowling award it was total crap but i PMSL :D

The Shining and The Ring.

(watched Jeepers Creepers last night in the hope that it might have got good whilst not watching it, and its so BLOODY awful)
 
Soooo many Horror movies, so little time ;) :)

It all depenRAB on what kind of horror movie it is really. Scream is great in a post-modern way, Halloween is the best slasher, etc...

Basically, anything by John Carpenter or Wes Craven has my vote :D
 
just want to ask, did anyone get scared of The Shinning? Because i found it crap. Mainly because of all the hype, with it being scariest movie and everything. Jack Nicholson was a poor actor I think.
 
Aliens for shocks, Ringu for suspense, Nightmare on Elm Street for imagination.

But the king of them all has got to be the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It has all the above by the bucketload and a weirdness that will never be matched.
 
Did anyone see a movie called Session 9 with David Caruso? I think it must have gone straight to DVD cos I don't recall it being shown at the cinema. Very creepy and atmospheric. If you prefer your horror psychological, then you will probably like this movie.
 
I liked Blair Witch too. I think it suffered because of all the hype surrounding its release. It also works better on the small screen rather than at the cinema.
Others...well Halloween is a true classic. American Werewolf in London is a rare example of a genuinely scary AND funny movie. Texas Chainsaw is very disturbing. As a kid, the original telemovie of Salem's Lot scared me witless (in a good way). Suspiria for 70s OTT weirdness.
Sad fact is, it is very hard to find new really scary films these days...

All fairly old films, except for "Ring". I think it's difficult to find anything new in horror because it's all been done before and all copied or parodied since. It took the Japanese to come up with something exceptional, but maybe that's because they're not spoon fed a constant diet of American rubbish.
I quite liked "Signs" and "The Others" but I refuse to watch anything with teenagers being chased around by CGI effects.
Can't wait to see "Alien vs Predator", mind you...
 
I hated Signs - was so predictable. Quite liked The Others, though again the 'twist was v easy to spot early on. I've tried several times to see what all the fuss is about Candyman. I really wanted to like it but just couldnt feel the fear factor. Rosemary's Baby is a classic horror (tho Ive never found it scary - more a black comedy).
I know everyone slags off Jeepers Creepers but I thought the first half hour or so was a lot of fun. The sequel is appalling though, as is BWP2 - one of the worst I've seen. Filed alongside Cabin Fever in my 'big disappointingly bad film' folder.
Someone restore my faith in good horror, please....?
 
Not many really scary films anymore, but I think thats because I'm getting older :cry:

I watched Gothika the other day on DVD and thought it was pretty good.

Last last time I was really scared was when I saw Jaws at the cinema, being rather young at the time I thought a shark was under my bed and I coudn't get to sleep :o .
