Fat people portrayed positively in animation

In cartoons, fat people are commonly portrayed as possessing any combination of the following traits: ugliness, gluttony, stupidity, laziness, no sense of personal hygiene.

A typical fat character will often be seen stuffing their face. For example, in the Little Mermaid TV series, Ariel's fat sister can be seen eating in every single scene she appears in. You never see Ariel or the other thin sisters eating.

Anyway, what fat characters have been portrayed positively?

Theodore and Eleanor (The Chipmunks) - Yes, they're portrayed as gluttons, but not in a way that makes them look disgusting.

Mikey Blumberg (Recess) - A very talented poet, singer and dancer.

Gina Lash (Angela Anaconda) - Okay, this is kind of a mixed bag. While she is ugly and disgustingly gluttonous, she's also intelligent and acts as a voice of reason on the show.

Fat Albert - While he's not very intelligent when it comes to book smarts, he's very street smart, and he's always happy to help a friend or a complete stranger if they have a problem.

Please remember: Don't just list names! Put a description next to each name!

I know a few fat characters portrayed positively:

Stimpy(Ren & Stimpy) - he's a fat stupid cat who's hilarious because of his stupidity and is a good-natured character being Ren's punching bag.

Heffer(Rocko's Modern Life) - he may be a fat cow/steer, but he's Rocko's best friend who's always there for Rocko.

Homer Simpson(Simpsons) - he may be the worst/troublemaking jerkoff father, but he's still a good hilarious father who's always a good role model for his family.

Garfield - he's a fat gluttonous lazy cat, but also clever/intelligent when he likes to bash spiders, pick on Nermal/Odie/neighbor dogs,be friendly with mice, & be with his girlfriend Arlene.

Annabelle(Eek! the Cat) - she's Eek's fat gluttonous girlfriend who's always a sweetheart who loves Eek and is always the damsel in distress sometimes.

Fat Buu(Dragonball Z) - he's a fat powerful gluttonous monster who's got a childlike personality who developed a good/soft side while meeting Hercule and having a puppy when he's not evil anymore until when those stupid meddling slimeball robbers had to ruin the moment.

JP(Digimon Frontier) - he's one cool fat kid who's kind-hearted/intelligent and will always save the day by transforming into a cool Digimon called Beetlemon & his beast form and has a crush on Zoe.

Wally Tuskett(Ultimate Muscle) - he's a fat fish-loving kindhearted walrus who's always there to help Kid Muscle and he got his first win by beating up a giant frog which I felt sorry for him & his losses from Pumpinator & Hyrdozoa & even his family are there to support him which his little sister is adorable.

Barry(American Dad) - he's Steve's fat dumb friend who's always hanging out with Steve on wanting to get girls and is always bashed by Stan which is hilarious & also has a darkside in that one episode which was interesting.

Helga(The Oblongs) - she's a fat gluttonous froglike girl who's one of Milo's friends. She's a fat greedy pig, but has a crush on Milo and that she's lonely without her parents when Milo wanted to help her get her parents back before that old witch tries to take her away, & I feel sorry for her living in Butters' world to have lousy parents.

That's a good one. They actually didn't focus on it as much as they could've and they always showed her as being attractive. That was neat.

Pumbaa's another good one (I'd call him fat). He was usually shown as smarter than Timon, very nice and a good loyal friend. They also didn't overdo it with the eating. Emile from Ratatouille could make the list; he always stood by his brother even though no one else listened to him or cared about his gift, even if he was a slob [all rats are anyway].

Oh yeah! How could I forget about Annabelle!

Edit: Oh, I just remembered another one: Tummi from Gummi Bears. He's lazy, gluttonous and dumb, but he's still about as good a fighter as any of the other Gummi Bears.

Orson (US Acres)- Being that he's friendly and is the voice of reason to the rest of the cast.

Peter Griffen (Family Guy)- If you count the early seasons and the occasional recent episode, he like Homer makes an attempt to support his wife and children.

Bouncing Boy (Legion Of Super Heroes)- Aside from being a hero, he does seem to share his comic book counterpart's aspect of having a healthy relationship with Triplicate Girl/Duo Damsel.

But does he have an honorable, admirable trait? Cause I don't think being funny counts.

Baloo (Tale Spin) Sure he was lazy and bit of a con artist at times, but he was a loyal friend to Kit and Louie when it came down to it, and despite their barbs, Baloo would do anything for Rebecca when she's in trouble (Usually trouble she got into trying to help Baloo, lol).

Coop (Megas XLR) Not be the smartest person and being a slacker yet he's good mechanic and a pro at video games which makes him a good pilot for Megas also he's the main character that many fat people don't get much......even tho he destroys the city mostly lol.

I can't believe people forgot Coop from MEGAS XLR. He was a lazy slacker, sure, but when push came to shove, he'd do whatever was necessary to save the day.

That one fat kid from that season of Digimon. He was pretty much on call to take care of whatever needed to be done. I think that most cartoons, even if the fat character is intelligent or a leader, always has to have a food problem. They do love to eat, as if that's part of their nature by default.

Chowder (from the series of the same name): Yeah, he's a glutton, and he causes a lot of trouble, but he's always well-meaning and doesn't have an ounce of malice in him.

Wade (Kim Possible): Could skip a few meals, sure, but he's also a genius and always willing to go the extra mile for his friends.

Chlorphyll Kid (Legion of Super-Heroes) More of a bumbler than the way-more competent Bouncing Boy, but he's pure of heart and has flashes of cleverness.

I read somewhere that Kids Next Door gets a lot of praise for not showing Numbuh 2, Lizzie, Heinrich, ect. consently shoving food in their faces.

I don't think he really counts. He may be loyal but only if someone promises him food or a long break afterwards. And he complains almost as much as Shikamaru.

I didn't know that guy's name was Jidanbou. Anyway, this thread is about them being portrayed positively. Chouji is always the stereotypical fat kid. That one fight doesn't change that. Chouji takes up 4 of the 5 traits that the thread maker named.

Numbuh 2 has been shown as being somewhat of a glutton, but his weight is rarely if ever mentioned by others, and he's the KND's best technical wizard.

Forgot to mention Broadway from Gargoyles. Aside from downplaying his desire to eat, he demonstrates some observation skills (such as being the one to determine Elisa was undercover in Protection when Goliath thought she might be under a spell). His line from, Hunter's Moon Part 3 sums it up:

"It has a great kitchen and an even better library".
