Family Guy - "Trading Places" - Talkback [3/20]

Great/funny/weak episode, but cool that it references Freaky Friday and an episode from Berenstein Bears on the whole "trading places" formula,

The highlights:
Drunken Tom, hahahahaha.
Carter wanting the dirtbike to kill Peter and destroying the bus bench, hahahaha.
Peter tricking Mayor Adam West, hehehe.
Amber, Peter's dirtbike girlfriend is hot/awesome.
Peter's Dirtbike National Anthem, hehehe.
Ernie The Giant Chicken.
Peter making Chris smoke, hehehe.
Chris/Meg switching places with Peter/Lois, this will be fun/interesting.
Peter mentioning Chris Rock and Road House, hehehe.
Peter being Meg and as a Columbine shooter, hahahaha.
Lois looks super hot as a teenager.
Exploding Peter, hahahahaha.
Wooooow, Meg being an excellent chef like Brock/Cilan is pretty surprising.
Connie didn't got a beating, rats.
The Bull Spitball gag, hahahahaha:p:D.
Chris taking over Peter's job.
Stewie in the Brian costume switching places with Brian, hahahahaha.
Peter the police sketch artist.
Peter mentioning Bullwinkle.
The Asian doodle killer mugging Chris, hahahahaha:p:D.
Poor Chris's emotional adult breakdown was amazing, Seth Green did it so brilliantly!!!!!
Stewie shouting into the bedroom, hahahahaha, he has the best funny lines ever.
It's nice that Stewie is the next voice of reason after Brian.
Poor Chris's heart attack, odd/interesting for a teenage boy being an adult to have a heart attack.
Dr.Hartman hiding from the police officer and his closing comment breaking the 4th wall mentioning the screen going back, hahahahaha:p:D, he's become funny/awesome by the minute.

Agreeing with O-chan, I would of wished they done more of the sweet plot with Peter/Lois in high school, oh well.

It would've.

This episode had a good idea for a plot, but it wasn't that funny and I didn't like it that much. 3/5.

Few other notes:
Road House FTW.
The bus bench scene took forever. I was waiting for when it'll be done.
Bull Spitball was the highlight, IMO.
I loved Peter as a police sketch artist.
I would've loved to see a chicken fight with Ernie and Chris.

Plus, what's with the lack of cutaways this season?

I really didn't think this was all that good.

The steam shovel gag was just too long and unnecessary, and the Columbine shooting reference was just in poor taste. The episode had potential and could have gone better, but it fell terribly flat and the humor was bland, at best.

Yeah, the steam shovel gag was another one of those famous "Family Guy" scenes that dragged on for too long. It's sad that the writers can't think of enough material to last 22 minutes, so they have to resort to doing that.

This episode had a good concept that should have been executed much better. Chris transforming into a domineering workaholic effectively took things over when there really could have been balanced and better comedy at the expense of the whole family. The worst of it is that it's resolved via an easy out; Chris has a heart attack and that magically resets everything. Peter is rehired for no reason. C'mon: they couldn't have dreamed up some silly way for Peter to earn his job back? That could have been an act by itself, but the angle wasn't even touched. Time sure was well spent on that dragged out bench joke! The one good thing about it is that it didn't take as long as that bout in German Guy.

On the plus side, I am not missing the cutaways. It'd just be nice to see em make better use of the free time they get from not doing those. With an exception or two this show seems to have been downhill since the season premiere, and that's really a shame after that above-average eighth season.

Funny but weak-plot episode. I stoped caring when the focus turned on Chris. His shouting voice irked me.

Anyway, best gags: Carter wanting the dirt bike to spite Peter, Giant Chicken Cameo, bull spitball, the chinese stealing from Chris, Dr. Hartaman & every line Stewie had in this ep.

Pretty good episode but it felt lacking. I wish the episode hadn't totally changed focus to Chris at the end though. When Dr. Hartman said "What do you guys do when you cut to black" I laughed super hard. Hope the season goes back up in quality~

It's been said many times before in here, but that shooting joke was just wrong.

I did like the sketch artist part and the guy in the horrible drawing actually being real. Overall, that was the only place I laughed in the entire episode. But I guess it's better than the episodes where there are no laughs.

Additionally, this episode really felt like it was thrown together. It didn't flow well at all.

Another break next week, and what, like the third week without American Dad? These breaks are getting real annoying.

Steam Shovel?? What are you people? 90?? It's called an Excavator.

Sorry for being "that guy", but I am kind of a construction equipment nerd and couldn't let that one slide.

Meh. Just meh. Easily resolved, and not really all well-executed to the point of highlarity. Forgettable at best.

That Columbinesque joke didn't do it for me. Not so much as it was offensive but just... meh.

Oh. Wow. I did not read the schedule close enough. I just took a look at their usual time-slots and assumed it was another break (I don't watch any of the other Animation Domination shows).

Thanks for letting me know. I seriously wouldn't have ever figured it out otherwise. (Maybe not until I missed a future AD episode and went on Hulu to watch that one.)

Just finished watching on Hulu. I agree with the others that this episode could have been better. I liked the Doctor's question what do you do when the screen goes black and it does. It was a surprise that Meg can cook. Other than that it wasn't too good.
