Even minus the steam shovel gag this was still overall a horrible episode. They kind of just forgot about doing the whole switch plot and then just had it become a Chris is stressed out plot without even trying to have Meg learn the same lesson (not to mention the whole "you know it's hard being an adult/kid" plot came from nowhere. Chris had no good reason to steal the dirtbike, and they didn't even try doing any jokes with either Meg or Chris in the grown up roles besides thinking Meg would cook badly. And then there's the "everything goes back to normal" ending. Uh from what I remember of the Mr. Saturday Knight Commentary wasn't one of the things they wanted to explore more was Peter going through different jobs after he lost his toy making job? How come he's kept the same job at the brewery if they don't even both doing anything funny with the brewery anymore? What do they just like using Angela and think that if she's not at the brewery they can't use her anymore, even though they still could? Honestly this would of been just enough reason for Peter to lose his job and actually getting another job or can they only do joke other jobs now?
So yeah very lackluster epiosde. Besides Carter wanting the dirtbike to hurt Peter, how Peter tricked Mayor West, Stewie wanting to swtich places with Brian and then forgetting if they did or not, and Dr. Hartman at the end, this was actually probably the worst episode of the season. Which is espiecally sad since the premise called for much better treatment then they delievered.
