Family Guy - "Road to the Multiverse" - Talkback [9/27]

I like the different universe they go to like Japan universe,Disney universe(XD Herbert as the Witch)Blocky universe,Flintstones universe Robot Chicken universe,Dog universe(XD Human Brian)
This is the best Road to episode ever maybe the best Family Guy episode ever
I hope they do a Road to the Multiverse 2 so they can have a Anime universe :anime:
 
I don't know about you guys, but I can't honestly say that I've ever been offended by anything Family Guy has done. I can't even think of anything in South Park that offended me(disgusted me maybe, but not offended). But the reason for that is it is just a cartoon, and as such it is quite hard to take seriously.
 
The only reason I could think of the writers using the "Walt Disney anti- semite" thing was because it's one of the few gags people would get right away about him, true or not. It's also the only thing vile enough to make Brian and Stewie want to leave right away. So I honestly don't see the big deal.
 
The problem with improving Meg's character is that the writer's have written themselves into a whole. If anybody starts respecting Meg, even a little, it'll be out of character.

I miss the days when an episode could fit around Meg and have a happy, heart-felt moment at the end (I Never Met the Dead Man).
 
What really doesn't make sense is that Meg will be friendless in some episodes, but will have friends whenever she needs to have friends, but then, the FG writers never were big on continuity.
 
We're on season 8. As a hardcore Family Guy fan I'm well aware that the chance of Meg's character improving is pretty much slim to none. This is the path the character has gone down. It's either accept it or be bothered by it every time she gets attacked. I prefer to just accept it. Heck, she's just a cartoon.

Maybe it's just me, but Lois doesn't seem to be the horrible human being so many people make her out to be.

Peter certainly gets his fair share of hard knocks, but he's just a big, fat, dumbass who tends to bounce right back no matter what happens to him because he's such a child-like character. And Quagmire? The guy is most likely crawling with STDs. He'll get what's coming to him sooner or later.



I didn't watch a lot of That's '70s Show, but Donna was the sort of girl I would have killed to have gone out with in high school or college, because you know she was the sort of girl who was not only naturally adorable, but was also down to earth and sincere. Unlike Mila Kunis' obnoxious Jackie.
 
Cheating on your husband, Assisting your daughter in Suicide, Saying snyde remarks every chance Lois is pretty terrible and then they try to pass her off as this megan fox character (She's a ***** but she's hot so it's ok). Lois just comes off as a me-too type of personality now everything peter does she has to do a female one-up act.
But back to Meg she doesn't derserve any of that abuse every sitcom has a bratty teenaged girl but they still find common ground with them but Family Guy never tries so instead of giving episodes like I Never Met the Dead Man and any other character development were given Meg bashing, episode after episode it's just predictable like a FOP episode.
And to the Chris Comment he's just a peter jr. he tries to come off funny but just comes off as a one note character (evil monkey, Fart, scary idiot) it's painful and when he finally gets an episode it's some boring conversation sequence it wasn't even funny, it's like sitting in a room with your friend and his friend and you have to be somewhere with him but his friend won't leave cause there on a topic you don't know anything about and they try to ask you about it.
 
well same thing she slept with him. So I guess that means Lois had the right to call Loretta out when cleveland wanted her back?:shrug: even so not in my book
 
After Don Poverimere left the show the team's gotten really weird with the whole Road to episodes. I guess the idea is that you can't just have Stewie and Brian go to random parts of the planet anymore but really first back in time, and now through the multi verse. Not that I have any problem with those (this and "Road To Germany" are still better then "Road To Rupert") but really the only options they prettty much have left are "Road To Space", "Road To Crossovers" or "Road to the Real World" and a couple of those were already done in a quick gag in this ep. And really even more so then any other Family Guy this was just a bunch of quick gags more then anything else. The only real pieces of plot were at the end with the Dog ruling man universe and human brian wanting to come with them but everything else just pretty much screamed "Hey here's a good idea for a gag, let's do it". So of course it all comes down to which of the gags worked and which didn't.

Which Worked: Most of the Highly Advanced World with an attractive meg, AIDS pill and super advance pigs. The Flintstones world (though only for Brian and Stewie's annoyance since FG already did better Flintstones gag), the idea and general tone of the Disney World (there was a part of that I didn't like), the Robot Chicken World (would of been funnier if done with the actual RC esque toys instead of a more claymated look), the real life world, the random guy shouting compliments world, the fake out world, and the quick looks at the fire hydrant and gay world.

What didn't work: The once again pushing in our face symbolism over the highly advanced world, the two headed world, the frozen ice world, the end of the Disney World (Didn't FG already do a "Disney is anti semitic" joke? I mean there are SO many other things you could of already done to convince Brian and Stewie not to say. Like for example Michael Eisner comes in and wants to make everything CG or have sequals to their works and involve the life action teen musicans or something. That would of been funnier then what we got), the badly designed graphic world (I think that was a rip on Internet toons but really could of been done a lot better) and sticking in dog world for the majority of the third act was pretty much a waste. They never explored too much on Brian's feelings on being in such a world and there weren't really any good jokes made from it.

So yeah I'm fairly luke-warm to this ep. I get that it was suppose to be an obvious homage to Quantum Leap but there were a lot better jokes they could of chosen when concerning the entire multiverse. So really more medicore then anything which is kind of sad for a season premiere.
 
All of those though just showed Walt himself this time it just showed Mort. And the way it was done this time was pretty funny and I'm not the only one who thinks so. :)
 
The next "Road to..." episode is going to be an hour-long Christmas episode that's airing in 2010. Like "Multiverse" it's also directed by Greg Colton and I believe it's going to be called "Road to the North Pole". Should be a good one.
