Family Guy movie?

If a film were indeed to be made, Ricky Blitt would be a good choice. The episodes he wrote: "The Son Also Draws", "There's Something About Paulie", "Death is a *****", "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein", and "Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington", were all pretty good.

It could work, but it would have to be just right.

Ricky Blitt would be a good choice, however, I would like Mike and Matt from American Dad to contribute as well. With the 4 of them, Seth, Ricky, Matt and Mike, I would pay too see that.

Should wait a while though, for the inevidable "Just cause the Simpsons Did one" arguments will follow any announcement this early after the Simpsons Movie. '09-10 would be a good target date.

I too think that a Family Guy could work, but they need the right writers to work on it.

There would have to be some kind of plot. Not a big or intricate plot, but at least one that could sustain a 90 minute movie or more. They probably have to cut down on the flashbacks in the movie.

I also have a feeling the final(and I mean "final") showdown between Peter and the Chicken would take place.:p

I have a couple of fears about a Family Guy movie:

- I fear that the "manatee scenes" might overpower the plot. Seriously, if they're going to seriously make a Family Guy movie, they can't stop the flow of the movie with one "manatee scene" after another. I swear, if I hear the stanza "Like the time" once in the movie, just once, I might walk out.

- What would they do in the movie that they haven't done on the show. They've chronicled how Peter met Lois so many times. They showed Stewie's birth and first birthday. Nearly evey aspect of their lives has been featured, from their past to their future. They could do another Stewie and Brian "Road" segment, but what about the rest of the film?

What will Peter do? Dear Lord, what will Peter do?!?

You know, if you're going to talk about your past credits to hype a future project, don't mention the credits that are going to turn people away. 'The Winner' was without a doubt one of the worst shows of the past season.

Having said that, a Family Guy movie won't work. What can they do on the big screen that they haven't done on t.v. and still keep it at PG-13? On the series, we've seen nudity, extreme violence and the worst language network television will allow. There's nowhere left to go in terms of upping the ante.

A Family Guy movie? No thanks. I think cutaway gags and random 70s and 80s pop culture references for 90 minutes would start to grate on the nerves. Also, like the Looney Tunes characters and Tom & Jerry, the FG characters simply don't have deep enough personalities to sustain an audiences' attention for over an hour. Even the Stewie Griffin: the Untold Story DVD was just 3 strung together TV episodes with a continuing theme.

I give Seth McFarlane some credit for not wanting to do another "main characters save the world" plot, but what else could an FG movie be about? Like others have already said, what could they do in the movie that hasn't already been done on the show? We've seen just about every aspect of the main characters' lives, past, present and future. Frances Griffin has died. Peter has met his real father. The Cleavelands have divorced.

Also, like Jazman said, it would be best for Seth and company to wait before pursuing such a project, otherwise they'll just be hearing "The Simpsons already did it!" about 30 or 40 times.

I've recently looked forward to the possibility of a Family Guy movie, but listening to what people have been saying, I don't know anymore.
I'm sure whatever they do will end up being good. Or at least downright hilarious.
